We gotta find Adam.

(Only DEMO is out as of rn) Honestly, this was... something. I don't know. It wasn't any fun, there was too much going on, and most of the conversations, whether it was through VC or text chat, just felt like cringe shock humor. The concept is interesting, I'll give it that much, and I might change my mind upon an actual release if there ever will be one, but as for right now I really can't give it much. Maybe this just isn't for me, I don't know.

Less of a horror game (which I was expecting) and more of a shock game if that makes sense. Some of the content in here is pretty typical banter that you'd see in an MMO regardless of whether the MMO is about to die or not which was fun but it quickly evolves into some of the most shocking stuff you could possibly run into. Particularly neo-nazi death cults, people worshipping real life murders, people talking about their fetishes, explicit cyber sex, etc. I applaud the dev for going this far with the subject material but it was kind of hard to get through and almost a bit cheesy and unrealistic feeling at times. In the end the vibe is definitely worth experiencing and there's a streamer mode to help make it a bit less explicit.

I wonder if we'll ever get the full game.
Absolutely adored the demo, it has such a wonderful, unsettling atmosphere and a rather unique setting. I'd love to see more of it.

so let’s meet up in uncanny valley <33

reminded me a lot of we met in virtual reality which was one of my fave movies from last year, if u haven’t seen it I think it’s def worth a watch bc rlly did interesting things within the medium of film.

loved this even though it is a bit lame, think it’s rlly interesting how critical it is of the fictional playerbase. idk been thinking a lot lately about how ppl engage w video games almost mindlessly(??) like no critical thinking skills present at all. like recently I heard at my job two moids in a breakroom discuss dark souls/elden ring and it like disgusted me genuinely. like those are definitely accomplished works even if they don’t appeal to me but they were just talking about best ways to defeat a boss. idk ig I just have problem w men who are engaging w art in the same way they engaged w mario as a child. these are men who still live w their parents, like genuinely do, and are in their mid thirties and are engaging w art in the way a child might. idk smth about men who have no control in their lives seeking control in fictional worlds is fucking scary and dystopian lol!!

An extremely cool playable cinematic trailer. This isn't for everyone and definitely has a specific audience in mind but I can't deny that this is an accurate look at MMOs and their culture. My only issue is that at one point, you're dropped in a really big level and it's a little unclear how to progress which kinda hurt my pacing a lot

Hits incredibly hard if you've had the misfortune of grappling with some of the very real, potent insecurities and pathos that the game dips its toes into, which is the exact sort of thing I like from any media that uses an MMO as a narrative device – but sometimes it wallows a bit too deeply in those feelings and doesn't necessarily maneuver out of its comfort zone, so it's easy to see why Agony misses the mark outside of that hyperspecific target audience.

The "nazi faction" thing is kind of cartoonishly portrayed and hard to take seriously, more than anything coming across as a clear and blatant allegory for alt-right presence in social media avenues as opposed to actual hostility against marginalized people in MMOs (God knows that the LGBT and POC populace in MMOs and other cyberspaces is bigger than ever these days).

Even so – I liked it, and it evoked some really poignant and pleasantly uncomfortable feelings out of me. Looking forward to the full game!
