i just reread it so i gotta meatride it again. gonna do my best to keep this spoiler free but i might get a lil carried away and allude to some plot elements or something.
this shit is superior to everything howly has worked on in almost every way to the point that it's shocking. paintfox did a brilliant job with the art and character designs, and really brought all the characters to life, his art perfectly compliments the story. COMPLETELY fixes the issue echo had of inconsistent and oftentimes poor visual quality.
as for the writing itself? im convinced howly was born to write this story. i completely understand why he called this his "most important story" on the echo project patreon- it is, hands down. theres so much to take away from this, it's like the gift that keeps on giving. the characters, while few, are fucking spectacular, everyone is written with so much depth and so much care. i could go on (cam's character arc, the narrative symbol of an ARCH????? A HALF CIRCLE???????? IM GONNA GO CRAZY!!!!!!!!!) but i gotta shut myself up before i stay up for 72 hours gushing about this vn

i cant even make a joke review for this one. this shit is so important to me as someone who is both a recovering addict and a schizophrenic. i have never, in my entire life, felt so seen and acknowledged by a piece of media before. cameron wilson is the best character ever written and arches is the best piece of writing out there and if you think otherwise i fear im gonna have to put you in the chamber
El juego posee una historia interesante dura y cruda en algunas partes, pero al mismo tiempo tiene partes sumamente lindas por la relación de los protas que es increíble, te hace preocuparte por ellos y les agarras mucho cariño. La ambientación de terror y suspenso está muy bien conseguida, y si te descuidas te puede tomar por sorpresa en algunas ocasiones. Tambien considero como un plus el cómo trata temas como la salud mental y las adicciones. Las imágenes y los sprites son muy buenos y expresivos, el único pero que le pondría es la interfaz de usuario la cual es por el defecto de renpy pero no es algo que perjudique la experiencia.
I consider that arches is superior to echo in technical terms, having above all a great melancholic soundtrack that you never get tired of hearing, as for the story, echo wins more points, you might think it is because of its linearity but the truth is the story of arches could have been very enriching, a gay couple where one of them has mental disorders and together they try to overcome them, was there a need to do it again? Despite the entire ending or the epilogue, it was very heartbreaking if the story had focused in that direction it would have been better, again echo project makes me gay
