Resident is where I started really grinding IIDX and reached 3rd Dan for the first time. I think the theming was great as well as the unlock system, and I found myself coming back every time I was at the arcade to hop on the cabinet and run a few credits. Having a full, native English release and being on a Lightning cabinet also heavily influenced my enjoyment of IIDX at this point: the upgrade from 60Hz to 120Hz is huge and I can't go back to playing on a basic cab now.

RIP resident, I had a lot of fun learning to play over the year. I hit 1st dan just the other day before it was discontinued. pretty cool version to start out with, and excited to try 31 this weekend
Good: It's the [ T O T A L P A C K A G E ] with every conceivable feature you'd need without tarnishing an inch of IIDX's core edge. And on top of that, most of the best retro tracks are still here! These fuckers put a camera in the machine so you can record your hands as you play.
The bad: I don't know what the fuck these mobile game popups and alerts are, why did it force me into this course mode thing but then drop me back into regular song selection, what the goddamn hell is going on here
