IMO the best game released in the PC Engine's first year. Despite the name, this is actually a (well-made) port of Wonder Boy in Monster Land with the Bikkuriman license crudely grafted onto it

You know I like to think I can be pretty fair with games, I don't try to be too overreactive with games. Like maybe I have before and I forgot. Actually wait I guess that one YYH GG kind of was that but like it deserved that. I want people to know that I've tried playing this game like on 4 different occasions. I've had enough of this game. This game makes me so angry.

So for context this is a PC Engine launch game. It's actually just a reskin of a game called Wonder Boy: Monster Land. The property used were for like this weird fad that was used in chocolates and it got so popular that the characters got it's own anime. I've never played the original Wonder Boy: Monster Land. Though I have played and beaten it's weird famicom reskin.

This game just drives me insane like I just keep playing it and never getting to the end. I literally spammed save states and I still couldn't even get to the final level. I try changing strategies and I just only get a little farther everytime. I had enough, it was actually making me really unhappy.

It's all a big shame because I want to like but like the first Wonder Boy game, I just don't enjoy it at all. I can't really say how accurate it is to the original version but it seems pretty good. The anime designs though don't appeal to me at all. I don't really know what anime this is based on is about and I really don't care. Fans of the Arcade game will probably enjoy this but not me.
