Conker: Live & Reloaded

released on Jun 21, 2005

A remake of Conker's Bad Fur Day

Conker, gaming’s notoriously naughty squirrel, arrives on the Xbox with a bang in an all-new Xbox Live-enabled team-based shooter, Conker: Live and Reloaded.

The game features intense Deathmatch and Campaign story line modes via Xbox Live and System Link, and players can compete as one of six combat specialists across multi-mission campaigns covering Old War and Future War. The warfare promises to deliver the non-stop action, humor, and innuendos Conker is famous for.

Also included is the critically acclaimed single-player game, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, completely recreated for the Xbox with stunning graphics and unparalleled attitude.

i want to bury myself in berri's berries

It honestly just didn't scratch the itch that the original game already didn't scratch.
I also remember the loading screens feeling like a pace-breaker for me.

I would consider BFD not that great of a game when it comes to the gameplay. But I find myself returning to it time and time again. I think the lightning in a bottle dialog and scenarios still carries this game decades later. And out of the two the remake did fix some issues I had with the original. So I mostly go back to this one for a smoother experience.

when I was like 6 a kid on the school bus gave me this game
I didn't have an xbox

Spoiler alert for those of you who haven't played this or Bad Fur Day.
Okay. I was a bit harsh with the game before, but it's honestly really good. A lot of my biggest problems with the original have been fixed in this version, like the Goddamn shooting controls.
However, I am not really sure why Rare felt the need to bleep out words like "shit", "fuck", "fellatio", "twat", and even "asshole" in an M-rated game. Not only that, but why is "asshole" so much worse than "ass"? Is "twat" really that bad? It's not like they're saying "cunt". This does't even really bug me. It just confuses me.
Plus, the censoring is so poor that you can clearly tell what the characters are saying. They only beep out the middle of the word, so can clearly tell that the Haybot is saying "asshole".
The original idea for the game was actually a fully uncensored version of the N64 game, which would've been called Conker: Live & Uncut, but I guess Microsoft didn't like that idea because all Xbox games are completely family-friendly (except Goat Simulator, South Park: The Stick Of Truth, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Halo: Infinite, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, Gears 5, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, Call Of Duty: Vanguard, Goat Simulator 3, The Walking Dead: Season 1, etc.)
However, this game is still really good. It's mostly just the little changes that help to make this game so much better. In Bad Fur Day's Sloprano, you need to throw SIX pieces of sweet corn into the diarrhea river to make The Great Mighty Poo to appear, but in Live & Reloaded, you only need three.
Another thing that this remake does a hell of a lot better is the music. Now, don't get me wrong, I like the original's soundtrack, but I LOVE the remake's soundtrack. Unlike the original, which just uses MIDI files, Conker: Live & Reloaded uses real instruments, which makes the music sound so much better.
They even made changes to existing tracks to make them better, like Surf Punks and Mad Pitchfork. Speaking of which, Surf Punks is my favorite track in the whole game. It fucking slaps.
The Barn Boys version of Windy now used real banjos and fiddles and harmonicas and it sounds fucking amazing. Sloprano (The Great Mighty Poo) sounds absolutely incredible with real instruments.
Also, while the remake censors a lot more swearing than the original, the remake is WAY more violent. Scenes like Berri's death and the electric chair are extended, so we see a lot more blood. And in the electric chair scene, the soldier's EYE pops out of its SOCKET. Jesus Christ. I would NOT wanna be THAT rodent.
Also, Sloprano adds a scene in the dung beetle's flashback where the Great Mighty Poo flips him off and they didn't censor it, so that's pretty neat. 🖕 Right back at ya, bitch.
Now for the animations. The animations in this game are pretty much 95.2% identical to Bad Fur Day's animations. However, the animations sometimes don't look that great with Live & Reloaded's new visual style.
