Curiosity – What's Inside the Cube? was an experimental video game by Peter Molyneux's studio 22Cans. Originally called Curiosity, the game was later renamed to avoid confusion with the Mars rover. The social experiment ended on 26 May 2013 and was won by Bryan Henderson from Edinburgh, Scotland.

fun social experiment by the worlds most pretentious gamedev

This was a craze back in my high school and I joined the masses tapping away.

People started losing interest before the cube was opened. It wasn't until years later I found out about the "prize" the winner got.

Part Social Experiment. Part Con. 0% Game.

Only giving a 2/10 because of the initial mania around my old high school was a fun memory.

“What’s inside the cube?”- Peter Molyneux, the snake oil salesman of gaming, asked us. While playing coy about what it might be, Peter promised that finding what’s inside would be life-changing for the winner.

We all tapped away at squares for months in our free time, toiling away hoping to be the lucky winner. Finally, somebody actually did win and uncover the prize. They’d get a measly 1% of the profits on the studio’s next game, Godus, and have some sort of Godly control of what happened in the game’s universe.

Godus was a massive flop, and the studio ghosted the winner. Whoop-dee-doo, never trust Molyneux.

Turned out what was inside the cube was a tiny Peter Molyneux promising you a prize you would never receive.
