I was pleasantly surprised about Dragon Prana. The plot is a by the book old school JRPG about comrades joining up to save the world from an evil demon lord. It doesn't have much in the way of surprising twists and it's rather straightforward, but it was quite enjoyable to me. While very cliched, the story execution was well done.

The story and game is heavily carried by the characters who are interesting and have amusing dialogue. The chemistry between the four is fun as expected from a fixed 4-person party.

Starting off like something from the Lord of the Rings, the Fellowship of the Ring, representatives from the three races join up to stop the demon lord's revival. An elf princess, a dwarf prince, a human prince and his attendant. It's worth mentioning that the MC is posing as the human prince which leads to some amusing moments considering he lets the attendant speak for himself.

The bickering between elf and dwarf doesn't old, but it was great to see them develop as a group. They were initially joined together because of duty, but eventually become the greatest of friends. Friendship and bonds are the major themes of the game and it's brought up frequently throughout. It might feel cheesy in another game, but it works very well here. This is also reflected in the three races who are initially hostile to each other, but relations significantly improves.

The gameplay is fun albeit easy to break early in the game and becomes pretty easy for nearly all of it afterwards. It's not much of an issue here since it adds to the overall coziness of the game.

I won't say much, but the class system here is decent and a nice added touch.

Overall, it's a nice feel good story about friendship and their journey to save the world. It's also a relatively short game which took me about 16 hours to complete. Despite the length, it had very good pacing and felt like it hit a ton of story points in that time so that I was very satisfied by the story in the end.
