Its a decent dlc however not the best thing in the world.

By making this DLC based around challenges it already misses the mark for me a bit because I would much rather prefer a normal story. However, since there is a bit of story involved it felt less annoying to do the challenges. The story is alright nothing too special but enough to keep me interested for the 10 hours I spend with it. A bit annoying that you had to walk around Carnage Hall a lot of the times though.
The narrative surrounding the challenges was also cool but the challenges themselves were pretty annoying with a lot of enemy spamming at certain points.
Overall, I liked the DLC but it could be way better. Hopefully, they introduce a new map in the next update.

So, bloody ties released.

Review

Story

Overall in a longer answer: this had a much better story than the base game. Unlike the base game though, this starts off weak, then strengthens throughout. The ending- is bad. One thing i really liked i must say, is that -minor spoiler- while climbing the ranks to defeat skull face, each time you come to do another challenge, you're met with a side quest to vary the content a bit. And the side quests aren't that bad, either. And of course, there's choices in this dlc too. And no, they didn't make up for the previous dissapointment. The choices don't change much, exept for a couple changed dialouge options.

Bugs

Now to the bugs. The bugs i sometimes found were quite gamebreaking, and they're quite common, atleast for me. Sometimes when dying in a spectacle, the spawn glitched, and i had to restart. and at the end, the quest doesn't finish and you dont get your rewards. If you have the same problem, try restarting or uninstalling, as that fixed it for me.

Grind

While grinding you get tokens, and with those (and mutation samples) you can earn mountains of content at the ''hall vendor''. This includes: alot of new weapons, 20 skins or so, 20+ masks, new item modifications, and a whole new armor set(included as outfit as well). And getting these tokens isn't much of a hassle, either. They're quite easy to get, and it'll remain fun while grinding.

Carnage Hall

Now on to carnage hall itself. Carnage hall is beatiful. It has different things to adore, see, and discover. It even has an outside area! There are zombies you can see, athletes, fire spinners, and much more. sometimes i didn't feel like leaving this area, thats how.. comfortable, it is.

Rating

Overall, i give this a solid 6/10, you did something techland.

Thanks for reading!

(For 10$, id consider this a steal, the developers are stealing from you.)

0,5 star rating reason: they added v-bucks to a 100$ game

Techland has been very vocal over its long commitment to Dying Light 2, promising five years of support for the open-world, zombie-infested parkour game. Free updates have backed up that initiative by adding a Photo Mode, more missions, and New Game Plus, but that approach is also going to be judged by its paid expansions, too. Bloody Ties is the first premium part of Dying Light 2’s long roadmap and while it does work in some replayability into its campaign, it also painfully highlights and focuses on the game’s biggest weaknesses.
