F1 2009

released on Nov 17, 2009

The game features all the circuits that are on the 2009 calendar including the Marina Bay Street Circuit for night racing and the new Yas Marina Circuit. The game only features the 20 drivers that started the 2009 Formula One season, and does not include the driver changes that were made during the season. There are 15 driver aids each switchable on and off for first time and experienced players, and in the multiplayer version, the level of help changes according to the player's skill, by using a "Fair Play" system. The game features slick tyres,[6] as well as the newly-introduced KERS concept, although the game has the feature on all the cars, not just the few that actually used it in the motor racing series. The game offers several different gameplay modes: Quick Race, Time Trial, and a two-player split-screen mode on the Wii.

Physics were horrible but I was just happy to be playing a new F1 game at the time after being stuck playing F1 06 for 3 years

F1 2009, the first Codemasters F1 game after they got the license for the F1 games and the only one that was released on the Wii. How good was their first game on a franchise that they currently release well made games?

I think in a F1 game there are two things you should talk about first. One of them is handling of the car. F1 2009's cars are oversteery and slides too much. It doesn't feel like an F1 car. I also can't imagine driving these cars without anti-skid assist for this reason. The other thing I want to talk about first is the AI of the cars you are racing with. AI of the game is probably it's weakest point. AI's commitment to the racing line is so much. This is most obvious when they shit themselves into turn 1 at the start. They will swerve into the racing line and if you're there they will definitely crash into you. If you're playing on strict rules this will also result you getting a penalty. They also have no overtaking capabilities for some reason.

Graphics of the game is alright for a Wii game. Tracks look good, models are ok. Sound is another weak point. For some reason this game has one music and it gets jarring really quick. V8 engines sound good but for some reason KERS activation has a sound and it sounds funny for a F1 car.

Overall this game is fun until you get used to the oversteery car which doesn't take too long to get used to. Great to see how much this franchise improved over the years.
