Wierd Visual Novel about philosophy? Didn't really get it, but fun enough to try it.

A cute apocalyptic tale about taking care of a Tamagotchi-esque child.

Momotype is a unique horror visual novel based on the premise of raising a tamagotchi as a real life pet.

It utilises a progressive story continuation with each playthrough which is clever once you know the meaning behind it.
Momotype manages to hit a wide range of emotions throughout its runtime which is very impressive on its own, but it is complemented by a gorgeous sepia-toned pixel artstyle and what little music there is in this game, it is used to its fullest potential imo.

It's surprisingly dark with its themes, while its story sits as a contemplation upon the ethics of AI, and mortality.
I was immersed thoroughly, and even though it isn't actually scary, there are a few scenes that made me unnerved/uneasy.

Momotype holds in its hands a compelling narrative, and it makes sure its medium of being a VN doesn't hold it back by using it in some very interesting ways.

Simply put, a quality title for whom the entry price is merely an hour of your time.

I know this might sound ridiculous but I couldn't get over the inconsistencies in the art style/presentation. I really wish it was just like, true 1bit graphics instead of the random dithering and use of soft gradients.

I feel like I mostly understood the story, although I kind of struggled to understand why the creature had his freakout, especially considering I treated him well. It felt almost like I was being redirected to fit on the track the developer wanted me to be, because if I was given the chance, I would've comforted him more instead of letting him spiral. I also kind of think the actions described near the final chase sequence thing in the house were a bit confusing. Like, he's choking me, but I can still make it into my bedroom? And then we see him looking into the bedroom doorway, just eyes, but it says I'm still dying?

The themes were cool, and I liked how it built off of itself, but not really something I want to try replaying for the other endings.

A monochrome and creepy visual novel featuring a sentient pet, a mysterious organization, a twisted progression and... Dragon Ball references? It's weird.
