I'm not even a DOOM nerd. But I am observant. And as soon as I re-entered the house I think I had an aneurysm because everything changed on me so hard. The attack animation frame count. The paintings. Rooms appearing and disappearing. Shrek coming to fucking life. Every building that isn't the titular house has the same layout as the house. I am going to go crazy.

I couldn't get the ending I wanted because the game kinda bugged and I couldn't go back to get the very last item I needed. That being said, it's very good. Some parts were mind-blowing and it saddens me that I probably can't experience this again.

I loved the ending to this. I have a screenshot of the true ending's final scene with doomguy's face all bloody with barely any health left, and it's specially evocative considering the journal's last message from February 27, 2023... "Happiness has to be fought for".

Maybe it works as a metaphor to fight through your past experiences (the game feels like a rollercoaster of traumas). Perhaps it's a paranormal love story that Ending 2 tries to suggest (though this jumbles my thoughts even more considering the dark connotation of the journal). Or it's both... idk, but I'm giving it a higher rating than average by the creative way it tells its story, and from how amazing it is from a technical level.

Admittedly it has a few lowlights that could undermine your enjoyment if you're dismissive of the whole liminal thing (I am, and it feels too derivative of that at times). However, I think compared to other liminal works it's the one that's most effective at transmitting an uncanny feeling, and it does so through level design alone with enough confidence to not rely on many scares (unlike something like Interior Worlds). So at least for me that makes it passable.

Overall, a great experience, certainly not one you expect from a Doom II mod. I said in my Interior Worlds review that it was probably the best liminal game that you could play... yeah, scratch that, this one is (and it's probably the ceiling).

This brings me back memories of Duke3D's A. Trilogy. Not scary though but still pretty neat.

so scary!!!!!! NOT lol i got the ending but i missed one thing so i got the poopy version of it also the invisible guys attacking you was annoying and i got stuck a bit. i also dled the wad ver by accident and wandered around there for quite a while wondeirng why nothing was happening before my friend looked it up and told me to play the pk3

Played MyHouse.wad on stream. I love a game that has so many layers to uncover. It was a blast to play through. Definitely my favorite experience of 2023. Go into it as blind as you can. GZDoom is quite easy to setup. I should also mention this was my first time playing Doom II.
