I envy her for not being able to cry because dear lord. What a tearjerker.

Honestly, I prefer the ONA version of the anime. There really isn't anything that this does significantly worse or better and it's nice seeing the extended interactions between Yumemi and the junker, but part of what makes the adaptation one of my favorite anime is its conciseness. This is by no means a long visual novel of course, but we are talking about a playtime somewhere in the vicinity of 3x as long as the series' runtime. I think that playing this was worth it for sure and I appreciate the somewhat greater depth of character, but if I was asked to reconsume the series in some form, it would be the way I've done it three times before.

There’s a scene in Planetarian where the cute little android gives a big speech on the wonders of the universe, the romance of discovery and the way space can draw our imagination. It’s a very beautiful speech and in that one scene this title evoked my admiration and respect for space exploration and the wonders it contains, than in any moment Starfield shat out during the 25 hours I spent with it.
It’s a short title and it shows it’s age, even with the HD version (it has a twitter button), but it’s still a beautiful and rewarding experience.

PLANETARIUM WA IKAGA DESHOU

I didn't know what to expect going and I truly recommend going in blind to be able to fully experience the story and emotions as they were meant to. Planetarian is a story about a short moment in a dystopian future where two very different people cross paths.

Why don't you come to the planetarium?
The beautiful twinkling of eternity that will never fade, no matter what.
All the stars in the sky are waiting for you.
