Space Race is the second arcade game created by Atari and was released in July, 1973. The two players each control a rocket ship; the object of the game is to make it from the bottom of the screen to the top, while avoiding obstacles such as asteroids. Score is kept electronically and the background consists of a simple starfield.

I cannot get myself to really rate games like this, usually I just give them 5-stars. It's a part of video game history at it's rawest moment, and, obviously, compared to what we have now, they always feel rather mehhh, but people might had fun with it at the times
Adds a level of complexity between the multiplayer and avoidance mechanics but still gets repetitive quickly.
It can be fun and competitive, but unfortunately, the levels repeat quite a bit.
Well, not impossible to play by your lonesome considering it's still a challenge to try and get your rocket up screen against a fairly dense field of obstacles. But definitely not how it's meant to be played.
