Super Mario Bros. X

released on Dec 31, 2009

Super Mario Bros. X is a Mario fangame that blends elements from Super Mario 1, 2, 3 and World. It has many power ups, such as the Ice Flower, Hammer Suit, Tanooki Suit, Kuribo's shoe, The Billy Gun, and Yoshi. You can also play the game with a friend in the 2 player co-op mode, where the screen seamlessly splits and combines as the players separate and rejoin. This fangame is most notable for its extensive level editor that allows you to create almost any kind of level that you can imagine. The game and engine were supported by the original creator until 2011.

Redigit has never made a bad game.

Extremely nice Mario fangame, a classic.
I finished it way back in 2011 but I suddenly got the urge to replay it, and so I did, even 100%ing it.
The ideas here are very fresh and honestly it could pass for a real game (provided you believe these music and characters crossovers are possible)

Super Mario Maker before Super Mario Maker

Facilmente um dos meus favoritos de infância, me marcou tanto quanto os originais de SNES e é muito divertido o modo multijogador. Física e jogabilidade melhor que o original inclusive.

best game I ever played as a kid I played this for probably a decade

(this is a review of both the episode I played, "The Invasion 2", and the engine I played it on, SMBX version 1.3.0.1)

Possibly the best Mario fan-game ever. You can do so much with this engine, and The Invasion 2 (a full length pack-in episode) is the perfect showcase of that. The level design rides a fine line between being faithful to the feel of Mario and having its own unique identity. The control is so spot-on it's scary, at times you forget it's not a rom hack but an entirely unique game. A must play for 2D Mario fans.
