It's going to be a day to remember for Sgt Mitchell. His first shift back on the MET's Organised Crime Squad begins with a dawn raid on a council estate that turns nasty. The next 48 hours will put him against the suspicions of his team mates, a new ruthless wave of crime and the most powerful man in London. Meanwhile on the other side of the city, amateur boxer Eddie O'Conner is in severe trouble. The bank job went horribly wrong, his small-time crew has been wiped out and his only ally in this whole mess is Sam, a teenage thief more comfortable with nicking laptops than gang violence. Eddie knows he's way out of his depth, now his friends are dead and somebody is going to pay...

Descobri enste jogo há alguns anos. Baseado numa série televisiva, conta a história de três personagens, todos eles jogáveis, um polícia e os outros dois vivem mais á margem da lei. A trama, embora simples, parece-me bem construída. Como português, confesso que fiquei imperssionado quando reparei que o jogo tinha uma dobragem em português de Portugal. Isto não era comum na época. Classifico como uma ótima experiência a curto prazo, visto que não é muito grande. Os comandos são já um pouco datados, mas nada que impacte significativamente a experiência.

Just like the first game, Getaway: Black Monday has unfortunately not been improved in terms of gameplay, graphics and lighting. On top of that, the physics that I mentioned and praised in my first Getaway review, whatever happened in this game, were wiped out. I have already mentioned most of what I can really say about this game in the review of the first game. You can read it. The only good thing about Black Monday is that the recovery time of the character is shortened and the vehicles are more difficult to scrap. This can be counted as factors that improve the quality of life. Apart from that, there is a story and story presentation much below the first game in terms of story. The intersection of the stories of the two characters we directed in the first game is more sedate and better captures the story of two opposing perspectives (the mafia and the police). I can say that almost similar stories are discussed in this game, but the merging part of the two stories and especially the first part where we play the story of Mitchell, the Policeman, is very sloppy and almost never covered the key points in the story. On the other hand, the story of Boxer O'Connor was emphasized more and more missions were added. Of course, while some of these missions are where we manage a hacker girl named Sam Thompson, which has almost no fun and whose stealth mechanics are a disgrace, O'Connor is a fun character to play. We manage 3 characters in total in the game, and the fact that each of the characters has different features is a nice detail that diversifies the gameplay and sets it apart from the first game. As a result, when we look at it in general, unfortunately Getaway: Black Monday offers an experience that falls short of the first game. There is no direct link to the first game, so it's up to you whether you play after the first game or not.

This game built up on the first game with its multiple characters. The controls are much smoother and intuitive and I actually like its story and characters. Nothing too memorable though.

The Getaway: Black Monday improves on just about everything from the first game, from combat, to driving and navigation, it's everything I wanted improved from the first game. Sadly the story just didn't resonate with me like the first game did. Still, a worthy sequel and worth your time if you're into crime games.

An admirable sequel which smoothes out the movement and combat as well as ups the detail on world design. I remember some great key moments but the overall story doesn't stick with me the same way the first game's does.
