In light of the franchise it would inspire, there's something cute about the first WarioWare game. It hasn't got the wacky gimmicks and mechanics the later games would start to play around with, but in missing that it has a pick up and play simplicity that some of the others miss. There's no need to tutorialise or explain the mechanics for this one, it uses simple button inputs for a simple but charismatic game. The original WarioWare might not be the best in the series, but it might be the most timeless.

Eclectic, bizarre, and almost-endlessly engaging, this is the GBA's best game by far.

Never owned this one, just played it at friends' places. I'd been a huge fan of the first Warioland on the Gameboy, but hadn't really kept up with his games after. I was really thrown for a loop by this one, its microgame gameplay being entirely new to me. It's a fun idea though, and the wacky cast and aesthetic go well with it. I think I prefer the series when it has a unique control set-up (aka Touched, Smooth Moves, and Move It!), but this was a good start
