MEU DEUS QUE JOGO FOFO! Cof... Cof...

I put way too many hours into this and I didn't even enjoy it. I realized halfway through assaulting one of the way too many outposts and just watching my little golem things punching the millionth fucking structure while swinging my sword around at random that I hated this game. Took me way too fucking long.

It's impossible to think while playing, just spam 1 button and you dominated a outpost

Given how much of Minecraft is centered around building things, it seems like a real-time strategy base building game should be a perfect fit for adapting the series to, but I felt like this one seriously missed the mark. Controlling units never feels right, even with the game's more in-depth command menu. It's not exactly clear which units are being issued a given command and pathing often causes units to get stuck on geometry. The pacing of the game is also pretty whacky with an open world whereas I feel like a mission structure would be a better fit. I love to see Minecraft experiment with other styles and genres, I just wish this one had been structured differently.

Just fired this up for The Boy and he was very disappointed to discover it is mostly tedious busywork

I mean, at least the animals are cute....

Although it's true that the game is very simplified and there isn't much to it, I still enjoyed playing through the main campaign. I played the majority of it in the mythic difficulty and there were times I thought the game was pretty challenging. It's decent, but still, I remember seeing the reveal trailer a year ago and I definitely expected this game to be much much better than it turned out to be.

It has a lot of cool concepts but fails to evolve them. After the first hour you've experienced everything the game has to offer as it sadly steers away from needed complexity. There's still some fun to be had with Pikmin style base raids, but that's about as far as the novelty goes.

Against all odds, it is most certainly and without any question in my mind a video game that exists.

I'd probably just stick to the original Minecraft if I ever need my fix for this series. This does very little for me.

damn i really thought this one was good at least

It's okay. Much like how I feel about Minecraft Dungeons, Legends just feels like a gateway to the genre of game it represents for younger audiences. it's simple, straightforward, and plays it quite safe. I mainly just played the game's story mode with two other people, and after the games rather confusing start, it instantly becomes second nature and a fairly straight line. All the game mechanics are instantly taught to you in the opening tutorial, and neither really decide to go beyond that. For a Minecraft game, quite a few of its many elements from the original game aren't present here, just the bare minimum that ends up being just enough to give create the overall aesthetic. A few unique elements have been used for this game too, like key characters and animal mounts, which do fit into Minecraft's style well. As for the style and presentation of the game itself, it's hit-and-miss. The simplistic chibi style used for most of the character models here is a bit offputting, more with humanoid characters like the villagers, zombies and skeletons, and your avatar. The design ends up feeling way too far off what a Minecraft game should look like, and overall just lazy and the easiest route possible.

The gameplay, while rather engaging and fun at points, ends up just being boiled down to pressing a button and watching the game carry itself. I would suggest trying a harder mode if you plan on playing this game. Clocking in about 7 hours, the game will just breeze by you and leave you feeling quite empty by the end of it. The formula to how the game is carried out is instantly established and doesn't really change from start to finish.
The games UI is strangely difficult to navigate at the start, and you may end up tripping up a lot trying to find what you need. It all looks the same and doesn't really stand out at all.
Finally, the Pigmen enemies feel braindead a lot of the time. When they eventually attack a settlement or if you raid them, they more or less just run at you with no consequence. Other types of enemies just do the same, but have more health or some sort of gimmick to them, which hardly matters due to allies feeling overpowered, no matter if they're in their element or not.

Overall, it's a fine experience if you like strategy games and don't feel like having much of a stressful time during a game. If not, act like this didn't exist in the first place.

Wait this wasn’t even developed by Mojang? So literally all Mojang has been doing is making garbage updates for Minecraft? With their ≈600 employees? Across 2 studios? After being bought out by Microsoft for $2.5 billion?

I love guiding my oomfie army to destroy the legions of hell

The undeniable charm of Minecraft packaged as a shallow and occasionally awkward strategy game.

It's better than Dungeons, but that's not exactly saying much. I think the story has a nice charm to it but the combat is a bit tedious it's basically press B to win. I do like the premise of the overworld coming together to fight back the Nether and the evil piglins. Another big issue I have is the god awful or lack of building options. It's Minecraft and you cannot really build anything. The soliders are horrendous to control at times but I do like how each one of the mobs in incorporated. I do like and enjoy playing through these Minecraft spinoffs but I think they need to up their game a little when it comes to the gameplay especially, but that's not to say this game is bad because more than anything it can just be a little frustrating at times. Also if you don't have someone to play it with, don't bother.

Just sorta boring. Once you get past the tutorial and can finally progress on your own you realize that there isn't much more to do. Combat feels shallow as all you do is have all your mobs attack structures and return to a spawner to make more. They somehow made building frustrating, as bridges are pretty strict on their use, and you can't make structures snap to each other which means it's easy to leave holes in your walls on accident. Collecting resources is a pain because you can carry so few so a lot of your early upgrades will be spent increasing carrying capacity just so you can have enough prismarine to build upgrades you want. Just feels like an overall lack of depth in the combat, and there isn't much of anything to do other then defend villages and destroy fortresses over and over and over and over.

Bro what is that ugly piece of game . i love minecraft for real . part of childhood . and still play but this . this is * shit man
i was hard waiting for this game . yet i get shity thing . i hope i forget this thing

It's fine, but it's not really worth your money and should've never launched at that price

Having an RTS game where AI is unbelievably stupid ruins a lot of this. You can send your units in to destroy a building, and they'll fall off a bridge on the way there or get stuck walking into a cliff

There are no rewards for multiplayer, and writing this less than a week after launch, I'm already struggling to even find online games

If you want any sort of reward at all, you need to pay for it with real currency. The options for player characters are terrible, and the ones in the shop aren't much better

It feels like an early-access game with all its features not fully implemented yet. The resource economy is unbalanced, there are areas begging for QoL changes, only three modes, poor matchmaking, no team communication at all, etc.

That being said, it's possible to have fun with this game. The novelty of an RTS in a Minecraft world IS a great concept, it's just executed poorly. The story is paper thin (as you'd expect), but Zerg rushing Piglin bases is satisfying fun when you turn off your brain. Some neat concepts for bosses, too

Okay to play on Game Pass for a bit, but I'd avoid purchasing

Not my thing. I expected a more traditional RTS game with missions instead of more of a Sandbox game, which totally makes sense for Minecraft to be fair.

Still a great opportunity for those who like Minecraft to get into RTS games.
