i feel like my brain is getting fried in the best way possible

Criminally underlooked game. This action-platformer leaves a strong impression from the start, and continues to get cooler every stage you progress, every time you start the game back up, every new mode you explore. It's a difficult game, but oh so satisfying and extremely sick.

Platforming shooter reminiscent of some Treasure co.ltd. games (Bangai-O, Silhouette Mirage, Gunstar Heroes etc.). Has tons of small varied levels similar to Bangai-O, many with puzzle-like structures encouraging clever weapon use. There are plenty of boss fights which are engaging enough to be a highlight of the game.

A main feature is the player character picking up various weapon archetypes which can be combined into unique combination weapons, adding up to a ton of available weapons. Throughout the game you end up mastering a lot of attack types to get the upper hand, from basic straight shots to manual detonation mines, melee attacks, slow wall piercing explosion shots, etc.

Hard mode & each character has unique content like new boss fights so there's a lot of content if you enjoy the core gameplay.

By default you have to open menus to switch weapons. There are options for both characters to swap all weapons on the fly without pauses. I highly recommend those settings if you're familiar with weapon/style swapping in games and don't want to get put out of the action.

There are so many weapon combinations that it's likely you won't see some weapons in a single playthrough. This might sound random but the weapons are balanced well and once you get some favorites you will intentionally aim for them. It never feels like you're forced to use bad weapons. Available tools are designed to work in each stage and often a stage teaches you to use them in a new way.

Copy Kitty has two playable characters that work very differently from eachother. The default is easy to pick up and has solid platforming control while the other has technical weapon use and shmup-like movement. I'd say some of the levels feel better with the first character since platforming stays relevant. On the second characters controlling the weapons can be satisfying and very unique to this game, but I recommend playing through with the default first.

El kinoscrimblo de un gato de devianart hasta arriba de speed

Underrated kino certified by rax.

A fantastic action platformer with a great level design, great gameplay, great replay value, great soundtrack and a great power up variation.

Even in the last world there are still variations of power ups that weren't shown before and all done in a sublime way with a good motivational message at the end of the journey.

If you can,buy this game.

For anyone who is a fan of action platformers I couldn't recommend it more.

Copy Kitty deserves more love and recognition.

Based Game.

feel like nitro rad would've made a review of this game by now

A fantastic side scrolling action game.

This game was simply a blast to playthrough I really enjoyed each world , the weapons and the bosses to fight.

For me what made this game awesome was its movement and how you can combine weapons to create special weapons which really made you think per level which weapon combo would be best to demolish the level. There is post game content that requires you to play through endless mode to unlock an extra world which I have not gotten around to yet but I may one day.

All in all a very well put game that I highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of action / platformers / bullet hell game because this is for sure one of the better ones.

I thought Hard Mode would be too much for me but no I forced myself back in and fuck it's so good. It is impossible to put the coursing level of electric hype Copy Kitty has through its continuous more difficult campaign into the proper words. I'm just, stunned, how incredible the level design is, how the boss design has been radically built upon to force you to make true on your fundamental movements and mechanics, how the final boss has you THROWING SUNS AT EACH OTHER THAT FUSE AND THEN EXPLODE. How even all the way up to the end it never ceases or slips up with its brilliant charm. I really wish I simply had an avenue to shoot this into any person I know's inbox. Rawest game that never compromises on anything, and so much to it. Like I haven't even played as Savant, or done Extra mode, or the boss rushes. There's still much for me to come back to and then GUSH unashamedly about next time. Good fucking god. I love video games

Genuinely one of my favorite games of all time. There isn't much to the gameplay itself, but what's there is polished to perfection and designed to feel as satisfying as possible. It's got a really cute and distinct art direction, and some surprisingly addictive action platformer stuff going on. Mixing powers and firing off attacks pretty much never gets old, and it has a ton of content to go around. Even after beating the (very packed) campaigns of content, I still regularly go back to Endless Mode to really push things. I think the lore and universe are extremely charming too, enough that I'd love to see more games that take place within it.

It also does the Kirby thing where the Hard Mode is actually just full of insane changes to the bosses and enemies, so it might as well be a second campaign. I think the developers took all the right influences for this charming little hidden gem of a game!

very very good indie platformer/bullet hell with way too much content considering the miniscule dev team

ngl i think this game is pretty good

An amazing action game with great level design, incredible bosses, two very different characters to play, and a hard mode that isn’t just numbers going up. Also a surprisingly fleshed out setting.

with the right combination of weapons you can summon a dragon that explodifies everything on screen including the framerate, 10/10

Buckle up! This game made me learn a very valuable lesson. If you give up very easily and you're not very fond of difficult games like me then this might be perfect for you.

I'm glad I decided to give it a shot. I saw it on steam. It was on sale. Didn't look that good. But it was still on sale so I got it anyways. I liked it so much that I genuinely felt bad after I beat it. Because I bought it on sale and the devs deserve way more money for it.

I'm just going to assume you have seen the trailer and you know the basic plot. It's important for later in the review but I don't spoil any big encounters and nothing that isn't obvious.

It's such a well thought out game. I beat it 4 times once with Boki on normal. Then on hard witch has altered level Design and some completely different bosses. And then another 2 times as Savant who plays way different. It feels like a new game. And Same thing here. The level Design is altered in hard mode and some bosses are different from the ones you fight with Boki. I think calling it a Hard mode is so Missleasing. What it actually is, is a Continuation of bokis story. And the savant story is kinda like a prequel to bokis story were he tests the levels he made for boki together with a mysterious character. The ending of a Boki playthrough on normal already seams like a good conclusion for the whole thing. At first she had a lot of doubt in her abilities and now she feels unstoppable. And that's were the hard mode starts. Now it's time for boki to show what she learned. And same thing goes for you, the player. Through out the whole game I could relate to Boki. And as corny as that sounds my confidence grew just like with Boki. I can genuinely relate to this cartoon cat. There were quite a lot of road blocks for me. Believe it or not hard mode can be pretty hard. But the game gives you new dialogue when you die a lot. Dialogue with hints on how to beat the level. If it wouldn't be for those hints i would have probably quit the game. I thought I was really bad at the game and doubted my self whenever I barely dealt any damage to the boss but through the hints from the dialogue I realized Im not bad at the game. I can do this. I'm just not using the right approach. I should be experimenting more instead of giving up so easily. The game even inspired me to do the same with other things. For example I would draw a lot as a kid but I never liked doing it in school. And once I reached 6th grade I completely stopped doing it outside of school because I would always get bad grades. But now I have the motivation to try again. And I'm having a great time improving and finding out new tricks just like with the game. Some day I will also get every star in the game. You get them for not taking damage. one time I had taken 1 point of damage too much. But the game still gave me the star and the result screen text said something along the lines of "eh. Good enough". Thought that was super funny. The game really knows how to make you chuckle. I love how Boki just says meow at the end of some sentences or sanvants obsession with spherical penguins. And the mysterious character from his story. I had a big grin on my face while playing through his story.

I was kinda sad when it ended but then it didn't. I unlocked something cool I'm not going to spoil for you. And there's also the endless mode and fan made levels. Or you could always make your own in the level editor. This game just has it all.

THIS 2007 DEVIANTART FURRY OC IS THE TRUE SUCCESSOR TO GUNSTAR HEROES AND BASICALLY, YOU'RE FUCKING STUPID

I finished all of Normal Mode, the first extra world and the first 9 worlds of Hard Mode but then I lost interest in it. The game is good.

The copy abilities + combination mechanic is obviously the highlight, but the other movement options (jumping, kicks, dodge roll) are all great and needed to win especially in Hard Mode. The bosses are very good, some of them are skillful, some of them offer a great spectacle, the best of them both. Copying the boss' signature move to use against them is always hype.

The level design in Normal Mode is a bit basic but becomes glorious in Hard Mode, with the levels forcing you to choose which enemy to kill with what copy ability in an almost puzzle-like manner (that W6-hard level was insane).

The story is pretty good for what it is and I find the 2000s deviantart artstyle charming.

Endless mode (wave based) was unexpectedly fun as well with the randomly changing environments and exclusive boss fights.

I might revisit the game to finish the remainder of Hard Mode someday

Anyone reading this review, please go buy this game on Steam, trust me you won't regret it.
If I had to pick the most underrated and overlooked video game, Copy Kitty would definitely be it. This game should be tried by more people. Because it's truly one of the best side scrolling shooters.
For me to say: Mechanics are genius. Level design is great. Combat is godlike. Controls are smooth. Music is lively. Graphics are gorgeous. Dialogues are funny. Cutscenes are crazy. Boki is cute and Savant is sexy. And also some of the most unique and enjoyable boss battles.
Yes, It's perfect.
If you like Kirby, Megaman, and Ultrakill. Congratulations, this game is a fucking mix of them.
To be honest I can't imagine this game is known by so few people. What a loss.

rules. the sense of discovery of the game giving you a new power and immediately putting you in a crazy situation that you have to use it in just SPEAKS to me. filled to the brim with moments that made me go "holy shit, did I just do that?". i'm really thankful for this website for showing me video games that I otherwise would've never known about. this one will certainly be in my rotation for a while.

immaculate game, i really like the variety of power-ups and the fact you can use boss powers it's phenomenal. moreover, the level design is excellent and the game is just charming in general with its unique style and visual design of enemies

GOATed game with GOATed music. And it has Savant.

This is Ultrakill for people who wear thigh highs.

making a whole ass second side campaign and just calling it hard mode is insane

I don't know HOW I could talk about this shit without completely devolving to absolute gushing. This is such an unreal hype action game packed to the brim with charm, complete riding adrenaline and just so insanely good to get me screaming "PINNACLE OF GAMING". I'm screaming and jumping and losing my mind at every world, roaring at every level screen, the only thing painful is how criminal it fell under the radar. I'm only now near the end of normal and I cannot wait to go through hard mode too I just have to get this apex of ecstatic energy out to everyone's minds! Give it a shot I guarantee you won't regret this.

EDIT: HOLY FUCK

Let me give you the elevator pitch on what might be the best action game of its decade: "What if Kirby played like Bangai-O?"

Copy Kitty rules. It whips, it melts, it owns, it slaps. Any butt-kicking verb capable of being performed, Copy Kitty performs it. I say it might be the best action games of the decade, and I mean it. Because while I might like other games with action more, Copy Kitty is pure action. It is action with a raw, molten core, full of dynamic challenges and massive explosions. It's art-style and lore are completely silly, but are genuine and charming. It also has a level editor and an endless mode and a completely seperate and radically different second playable character and??? It's just so damn good. If you love action games, do yourself a favor and check Copy Kitty out.
