cool af, why did we stop making cd games for pc it was fire

Oops, you have to put the CD in your computer

An okay "children's activity center". It does have the honor of being one of the many first 3D open world games before GTA 3 (unless I'm somewhat wrong), but overall it's fine. Nostalgia gets to you somehow.

I watched someone else play this it was a very charming game

this is so good and funny, if i was a kid i would have been completely obsessed but it's a fun trip to see, the production value seems so high for a mega old lego game
brick by brick is best song

OOPS YOU HAVE TO PUT THE CD IN YOUR COMPUTER

if you didnt run this game at 5 fps on a computer that looked like this i'm sorry you missed the golden age of gaming.

Oh yeah baby, got this from a scholastic book fair and never looked back since. The game has a very confusing UI and doesn't run all that great but this has such a vibe to it man. Just exploring the island freely was something that kid me spent hours on and the minigames were quite fun too. That race course goes astronomically hard even if that dumb skeleton kept kicking me off. Add extremely memorable characters and music and you got yourself a game here that might not have that much going for it in terms of gameplay and content, but has all the charm and atmosphere in the world. This game is probably one of the key players for me caring so much about those kinda things when I play games. I've been legoislandpilled

I can't remember shit from the game, one of my first games ever played. Gotta deliver pizza on a skateboard.

This game was a revelation when I first played it. 3D talking Lego minifigs blew me away, it was like my imagination came to life. I felt like there was such mystery and mystique to the island.

Upon revisiting the game as an adult, I realized that's because the game doesn't make a lick of sense.

The game really is like a kid's imagination brought to life, because it's utter nonsense. It honestly feels like a tech demo, and as Lego's first 3D game, it probably was!

But the Brickster is still awesome.

a trip even in 2009 when I played it

Nightmare

Lego island doesn't exactly work so well on my computer, when i try to exit it crashes instead and none of the vehicles but the skateboard seem to work, meaning i can't exactly...progress. It's a small ass game but it's very like, weird and interesting. Lots of mid 90s pc games for kids are , really, maybe i should check some more out.

Everyone on the island is immensely frightening by the way aand playing this the first time is like a near death experience

Great, but the second one is the best!

I mean I guess it was pretty alright for the time but it really does not hold up well at all today. The sequel actually has some replay value and could still be fun today, but nah, Lego Island 1 really only has like a couple of hours of content tops and then you'll be done with it forever.

I think I have finished this game with an old friend when I was in kindergarden.
We had a lot of fun back then.

I have in plan to replay it one of these days.

I'd consider this the Deadly Premonition of 1997. The game is objectively not good and not well optimized, and you could beat it in one sitting. However, it has such a huge charm and personality that it pretty much defined my childhood.

Bear in mind I wouldn't recommend playing this game if your gaming palette is in such a state that you wouldn't be able to tolerate a framerate mess of a game that is very picky about the system it's running on. It's really one of those "you had to be there" games.

I remember absolutely loving this game as a kid. I tried looking for a ROM of this game so I could play it on Windows 11, but the ROMs either didn't work or ran slower than the fat kid on the track team.

I fucking love this game, it's not an objectively good game, but the atmosphere this game creates is stronger than most big budget games.

Pretty sure I had this as a kid. Love this game.

This is another one from my childhood. I remember exploring the island and being scared of the racetrack. I don't see a lot of games that let you just mess around in a sandbox without there being a focused goal in mind. Just hang around and talk to funny plastic people, listen to music about pizza, race around the island, build a helicopter. It all felt so cozy. I really need to crack down on getting this one running again so I can give it a proper score. I know it won't control well, but I gotta go back to the island.

A goofy and janky game that gets by on sheer charm. Skating around the island, doing the silly minigames, hearing some voice acting, it's all a lot of over the top fun even if it isn't really terribly substantial. It's so cool it doesn't have to be substantial.

The first LEGO video game ever made is basically LEGO GTA.

It hasn't aged well at all, but there's undeniable nostalgic charm. I mean, you can run over LEGO dudes with your car and they collapse into a pile of pieces, come on.

And that racetrack is fucking crazy.
