another game in the "walk around doing puzzles that aren't that interesting" genre. this one somehow manages to outstay its welcome despite being only around an hour long. amusing and cheap enough to be good value at least.

You can beat this game in around an hour, so stop reading backloggd reviews and just play it! What's the worst that can happen? You waste $3 and 1/5 of an evening? Chances are that won't happen though, as this blend of simplicity, cleverness, and quick, intuitive, satisfying puzzles is worth every penny and every second! It's basically The Witness-esque line puzzles condensed into its most refined form. Saying any more would just spoil the fun, as the game's surprises and elegance largely speak for themselves. The very definition of short but sweet!

A clever, condensed take on The Witness. It's very short, but still leaves you very satisfied by the time you finish it.

The second time I found an obscure, highly praised indie game from a couple of friends. I really only decided to play it because I was annoyed at my computer being too shit to play another game, but I'm glad I did. I got annoyed when I was trying to find the last puzzle, only to realize after a few laps it was right in front of me.

Linelith is a short yet sweet puzzle game that asks the player a simple question: can you draw a line? This of course means it takes obvious inspiration from The Witness and has some similar aspects to it while maintaining an individual identity that makes it unique.

Most of the puzzles are rather simple, with only a few requiring extra spending time. Because of this, most players should be able to complete the game in its entirety in under 2 hours. An important feature of the game in comparison to similar works is that the player character actually matters in some of the solving. This is the aspect that really sold the game for me due to the utilization of such an odd concept. Another part of the game also became quite an exciting revelation, though it's worth discovering such on your own.

If you're a fan of The Witness or Taiji, then you might appreciate some of the concepts this brings to the table. The same goes for those who are interested in easier puzzle games as well. It was quite an enjoyable experience well worth the price of entry.

Linelith is a short game made by the creator of Patrick's Parabox. It takes clear inspiration from The Witness, but attempts (and succeeds) to carve out its own identity within the line-drawing puzzle subgenre. It can be beaten in under an hour, with a minimal presentation style and soundtrack, but it uses literally everything it can to create devious little puzzles to challenge you over the course of your playtime. I love that this is technically an open-world game also, allowing you to walk away from puzzles if you find one too difficult, though the curve is steady and fair and none of the game's mechanics are hard to figure out thanks to simple controls and tight, readable design choices. I wasn't expecting to love Linelith as much as I have, so I highly recommend to anyone looking for a quickfire burst of puzzle genius.

This is a short and sweet little "open world" puzzle game that's essentially a minimalist Witness. (I know I compare every game to The Witness but seriously, this game has a very similar type of puzzles.) Its got only a few mechanics but it hones and combines them to perfection, and while it is frustrating to figure out where the last puzzle you haven't solved is located none of the puzzles were frustrating or unfair, and many of them were very clever. Definitely give this a go if you like puzzle games.

Absolute steal for 3 bucks, really really fun game

I've played a lot of really condensed but great puzzle games lately, and color me impressed, I'm happy to add Linelith to the mix. It's a simple concept tied to really clever execution and through its surprisingly intuitive teaching and difficulty curve, it introduces further wrinkles into its ideas while craftily giving you just enough hints to figure out the surprises. No wasted ends on this one (I always love a short but sweet game you can finish in a day), and my only complaint really is that the one song on loop can feel a bit ingratiating in how it just drones on after a half hour or so. Highly recommend this at its MSRP of $3, so it's absolute robbery if this ever goes on sale. A fantastic puzzle hidden gem that should not be overlooked, especially if you like The Witness; needless to say I will never think of corners the same way again.

>100%

A simple but great puzzle game that keeps surprising and catching you off guard until the last minute. Can't wait to play Patrick's Parabox!

"Linelith" offers a refreshing and concise gaming experience, drawing inspiration from the acclaimed puzzle game, "The Witness." However, while it successfully captures the essence of its predecessor, it falls short in providing a significant challenge. Even the most difficult puzzles are easily solved within minutes, leaving players craving more depth and complexity.

The game introduces a compelling twist, also reminiscent of "The Witness", but fails to fully capitalize on its potential. Once players grasp the concept, the puzzles become less about solving intricate challenges and more about simply identifying blocks with textures to indicate unsolved puzzles. This shift diminishes the puzzle-solving experience, transforming it into a somewhat mundane task of observation rather than genuine mental stimulation.

In essence, while "LineLith" offers a refreshing take on the puzzle genre and implements an intriguing twist, it ultimately lacks the depth and challenge needed to elevate it beyond a mere imitation of its inspiration. With more exploration of its unique mechanics, it could have been a standout title in its own right.

For its scale, this game is kind of perfect but its also just way too short and I would've loved to see its mechanics pushed further and further. Every twist on the mechanics came at natural enough times to where I went "oh shit that's cool" even if in hindsight they're really obvious for the type of game this is.

Can a tiny, but utterly satisfying experience be a perfect one? No, give me more line puzzles you cowards

I wish it was longer. That's it. That's my only complaint.

At 1 hour long and only $3, every puzzle game enjoyer should play this. It is a delight.

I did not expect this game to be so fascinating! It got clear inspiration from The Witness but manages to find its own identity rather quickly. The less you know about it the better, to be honest. It's short, it's cheap: there are no excuses, just play it :D

10/10 puzzle game. One of the best in the genre.
Takes 40 min to 100%. Even if you're not interested

A puzzle game where it's on the player to figure out the rules. I think a lot of indie devs could take inspiration from this one, as Linelith manages to stay fresh and engaging for its entire runtime.

OH MAN this one's a banger. Just play it. Took me about an hour to beat. I wish it was a full length game.

3 bucks to play, 1 hour to beat, if you like puzzles you have no excuse with this one. A GREAT one-shot that hits the brain in that satisfying way that well made puzzle games do. Heavily recommend!!

Linelith is a really creative and short puzzle game, the only mechanics are walking around and drawing lines on tiles on the screen, but even in its very short run time it shows a remarkable number of different ways these mechanics can be applied. It's hard to go into much detail on those without spoiling the game, but it's an easy recommendation at $3 and taking around an hour to 100% complete it. I do kind of wish that there was a bit more here, I feel like there could have been additional puzzles with certain mechanics before I got tired of them, but on the other hand it certainly doesn't overstay its welcome and it's a nice change of pace from my pile of uncompleted puzzle games that got too hard at some point to have one that I can complete in a single sitting.
