Couldve been Mario Strikers Charged 2, but tevery wrong turn was taken. The gameplay was slowed, the customization doesnt make up for the dull cast of characters and the chaotic-ness that makes Mario games fun was outright removed. The graphics improved but thats about it.

the actual game is fine, it's mario strikers and is full of flair and a ton of personality especially in the after goal animations. it's just also the most barebones and lacking in content of not only the strikers series but of the switch mario sports games in general. i don't personally mind the strategy they go for with post launch content for these games but even playing this in its complete state it feels completely lacking. even just compared to the other switch mario sports game it has no story mode, maps mean nothing and all play identically, it has the least amount of characters. as someone who feels aces and super rush get a bit too much shit it's pretty insane how low effort this one feels.

its fine, i wish they would just bring back another sluggers

they should put more game in this game

PT-BR in at the end.

Boy, what a weak game.

I haven't played many Mario's Strikers, just the Wii one. And wow, the Wii one is 10 to 0 on this one.

On Wii, you choose a main character as captain (Mario, Luigi, Peach, DK, Bowser, etc.) and 3 secondary characters as team members (Boo, Shyguy, Hammerbro, Birdo, etc.).
The captain has HyperStrike, which in practice are all the same, it just has a different animation. To use it, you charge the kick to maximum, and start a little precision minigame, and the more precise you are, the better your hyperstrike will be and the more difficult it will be to defend. I don't remember exactly how many, but when the goalkeeper defends the hyperstrike, there are n balls on the screen, and with the Wii's movement control you have to aim at the balls and defend them, and when the accuracy of the shot is perfect The balls will come very quickly, being very difficult to defend and making the goalkeeper concede 3, 4, 5 goals or more (I don't remember the number, I just remember that it was somewhere between 3 and 8, I don't know).

Additionally, the secondary ones have a different special attack. Hammerbros throws a bunch of hammers that pin enemies they hit to the ground and then hits the ball with a sledgehammer. The shyguy climbs on a rocket that explodes on whoever it hits, the top goes underground, the dry bones kicks a ball of lightning that stuns even the goalkeeper for a few seconds. In short, a wide variety of skills.

ALSO, each character has a different dribble. Mário has a standard football dribble, pulling the ball to any desired direction, DK hits his chest like Tarzan and defends himself from any tackle anyone throws at him, Birdo spins around doing the same thing as DK, Dry Bones does a somersault and teleports a few meters away, if done right you can dribble past the goalkeeper and get the ball into the goal, in short, everyone has a different dribble.

AND BESIDES ALL OF THAT, in the game there are items for you to use, in the Wii game each captain has a special item with unique powers, Mario and Luigi become giants and can step on others, crushing them for a few seconds, Waluigi creates vines wherever he goes , being able to create types of mazes to trap enemies and be able to perform the hyperstrike alone, Yoshi enters a giant egg and also crushes everyone, in short, each captain has an exclusive item.

In the switch you just have the hyper strike. And nothing else. There is no hierarchy of secondary characters and captains, they all behave the same, that is, they all only have the hyper strike. The hyper strike is much more annoying, you shoot and the goalkeeper has to keep tricking the B to be able to save the ball, and that's it, if he scores the goal it's worth 2.

There are no specific dribbles, everyone just runs, touches, crosses and shoots, the only difference between the characters is their status (strength, shot, speed, etc.).

There are no exclusive items, no exclusive dribbles, nothing lol.

On the Wii you had maps that interacted with the field, lava falling, or whatever else.

BattleLeague maps (switch) do not change ANYTHING, they are just cosmetic.

And man, that's it. Battle League only has friendly mode, cups, and online. I finished the 5 cups and when you do that, you release them again but on a higher difficulty, and I didn't have the least desire to try to play more of the same. You can change the team's characters, equip them with items that you buy with the coins you earn (which improve some stats, and worsen others, no fun at all), you can do whatever you want and every match looks the SAME.

The only positive point is that it seemed like a more balanced game, but due to the lack of artificialities that the A.I. It has to be used against you, so it was much easier to clear than the Wii one.

Anyway, this game was very disappointing, too weak, great to play 2 or 3 games with a friend and that's it.

-----PT-BR------

deeply disappointing - a downgrade over the previous title in nearly every area, with the only real exception being the quality of model animation. homogenized musical style and character personalities, gameplay that rewards shots from the halfway line and restricts interceptions, and a focus on a very strange online mode where you need to use other players' built characters - it's sad. at least we got a real 4/8-player mode, i guess. not unplayable by any means, but the lack effort here is very clear.

I had such nostalgia for the one they did on Wii that the announcement of this game was one I'd been waiting on pretty much since the Switch's launch.

My disappointment was immeasurable. And my day was ruined.

I'm not sure if it's the lack of content or the more complex controls but I just couldn't get on with it. Especially when the longevity of it came simply from increasing the difficulty. Perhaps DLC made it feel more complete, and perhaps I will return to it some day, but for now I'm more than happy enough booting up my Wii if i get a hankering for Mario Football.

Overall to me the WIi one was just better.

Pathetic style wise and content wise, but the game itself is pretty hype, get a team of friends and you'll enjoy doing the harder cups

i waited over 10 years for a new strikers and in return i get a game with 10 characters and 5 stages that have no gimmicks, suck my dick nintendo

Super Mario Strikers and Super Mario Strikers Charged were way better than this mess. The controls suck and the game feels so slow. Strikers on GameCube felt fast pace and Charged kicked it up a notch. Why get rid of the good qualities that the previous games had.

Almost no content at all and it took like only 4 hours to unlock everything and finnish the cups

um..

I think Nintendo should let Next Level actually finish the next one.

Absolute garbage. I scrapped my whole video on this game just because of how bad this game was!

UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not buy unless you have no friends. even if you had friends this game blows because the CPUs in this game is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UNRELIABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HATE THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a finely tuned and technically nuanced game here that impresses me with its controls but lacks in "content". I have a fondness for the original Super Mario Strikers and while this game can definitely provide the thrills, the structure and replayablility leaves a bit to be desired. I appreciate that it leaned into what it does well, though I wish there was a bit more to do on the single player side of things

Next level games is so good at making good quality titles that I can only assume they were given 3 nickels and a pencil by Nintendo to make this game. This game feels like someone made them make it at gunpoint

About as depressingly half baked as everyone said it was and featuring what feels like less content then the previous games with an tact on Gear system that CTR Nitro Refueled added in as an update and ruined the point of character selection stats. Gameplay feels genuinely good but in the end... I'm not mad, I am just disappointed.

so this is was true disappointment feels like

Note that this is from when I played at launch. As far as I'm aware, they only have added characters, which still probably isn't enough. The game has substance, but it lacks content. It really sucks because from the animations, the songs, the gameplay itself, I can tell there was some work put into this. But once you've played one game, you've basically seen everything.
