I love the story of this DLC as much as the story from the main game, as well as how they returned with the 3rd person camera mode.

I felt like this DLC was more terrifying when it comes to horror, especially in the mannequin phase, with many chasing, and jumpscares! Rose's journey to get rid of her powers will be harsh, creepy, and emotional. Someone - not gonna spoil who it is - will be helping her, but will she succeed? You'll get to know everything once you play this one!

I recommend it on sale, because it's expensive for a DLC, and the campaign is short.

Weeping angels, oof. Shadows of Rose is actually a really good step for the franchise, showing the writers can still embrace supernatural stuff and make a survival horror experience that delivers something different (although not really new to the genre.) New mercs characters and third person mode are cool too.

saved my life MAKE RESIDENT EVIL 9 PLS

Acho que não vale tão a pena.

This is the most inconsequential DLC ever and the fact it was called the conclusion of the Winters saga is a real head scratcher. The first hour of Shadow of Rose operates as a fun micro-RE game that remixes one of the best chunks of Village, and then the rest of it is kinda just bad.

Recomiendo

[Shadows of Rose] The whole middle section is some of the best Resident Evil horror content there is. Absolutely messed up. Story is whatever but great way to spend more time in these locations.

This review is specifically for the Shadows of Rose DLC since I haven't experienced any other part of the expansion. I was more interested in this DLC since it continued the story of Village after the events of the main game, and had you play as Rose, Ethans daughter.

Overall, I thought the story was fine, but felt pretty inconsequential to the main story. Like I feel like this DLC didn't have to happen and it wouldn't impact the greater story at all, but I guess we'll see in the potential future. At only three hours I don't think it's worth the $20 price tag alone, I'll probably at least experience the third person mode to get my money's worth.

But the DNA of a true Resident Evil game is here, you have the same shooting combat, puzzle solving, and inventory management (though you really don't ever need all the space it gives you, unless you just don't get hit and only use ammo when needed,) and of course the horror element is here. Not quite as scary as Village, but it holds its own.

The DLC does recycle old maps from Village, but the story is different enough that it doesn't feel unnecessary. Plug I like the level design of the main game.

Overall, I thought it was fine, not sure if I'll ever go back to it like I would the main game, but it was a good one-time playthrough.

Was pretty good. Disappointing final boss, but overall pretty good.

this is just about the most offensively awful thing i’ve ever seen come out of a triple A studio. not only is the base premise of the DLC incredibly amateur, but it completely backtracks on what was set up in the final cutscene in the first game. it is next to impossible for me to care about Rose winters and to this day she still feels like someone OC instead of an actual character that has a place in the larger resident evil universe. the third person is horrible and feels like a mod, every location in the game is recycled, there’s absolutely barely any enemy diversity, the puzzles are shit, and the entire thing feels like a chore. i bought this through eneba because i’m tired of giving capcom my money and what started as me streaming the game to my friend so we could make fun if it quickly turned into me wanting to get off the game as quick as possible. the writing staff at capcom suck, they don’t know what they’re doing. they didn’t with the remake of 3 and with village and they didn’t with this. just forget about this pile of garbage and look up the ending on youtube or something.

to preface, i only played shadow of rose, so my score only reflects that!

a fitting end to ethans story, the gameplay was frustrating at times (how tf does a teenager not run) but levels were really well thought out and the scary levels are truly scary. cried like a baby at the end too, thanks capcom!

A DLC pack that introduces the TPS camera angle mode to the main game, 3 new characters to the Mercenaries mode, and an extra story linked to the main story. The addition of a TPS camera to both the main game and the extra DLC story is a nice update, but I didn't really like having it by purchasing DLC, it would be better if it came with a free update. As for the additional story mode, a short but successful job has been done. If you play in detail, it will be over in about 3 hours. I wish there were longer gameplay times, more weapons, more different enemy variations, but I'm not complaining about the work done. I'm not very interested in the Mercenaries mod, so I won't comment much. If you haven't bought the base game yet, I recommend getting the Gold version of the game that includes this DLC.

OK, that's more like it! While the main game was more of an action-shooter, Shadows of Rose felt more like the original trilogy and RE7, a true survival horror experience. Yeah, it was really, really short so I couldn't give it more than three stars, but still, I found it much more fun than the gameplay in Village itself.

I didn't care too much for the additional levels in The Mercenaries, or the third-person mode, although it's a nice gimmick, I have to admit.

Shadows of Rose is the plain oatmeal of RE DLC. It doesn't move the needle on the story at all, still leaving the questions people asked at the end of RE8 unanswered. It's not a terrible experience, but it's not about to knock your socks off like End of Zoe did for RE7.

this dlc makes me. so conflicted but at least i can play through house beneviento without shitting my pants now

I enjoyed revisiting RE8. I thought it was v obvious but cute thing they did with michael. It was v short, but I enjoyed it. I'm glad they revisited Dimistresc and Donna's as those were the best of the game. Nice to see Eveline again, haha

Gameplay for the first hour was basically just a retread of normal RE8, but as it went on it actually threw out at least one pretty interesting gameplay idea that made it stand out. Story was bad (of course) but the dialogue was mostly not campy enough to make it work like most other RE stories. Also, it had a habit of spawning in death floor that kills you after a certain time and slows you down when you aren't looking during tense moments which surprised then killed me enough to become annoying. Thankfully the mostly fun gameplay carried it and made it feel worth playing.

Shadows of Rose is okay, I guess. Really bummed that it was all recycled areas from the main game but I guess it makes sense. I'm desperate for new RE content so I'm sad about how short it was.

So close to having a really great thing here. I liked Rose as a character, and the few emotional moments hit me, but they didn't last long and the end boss was underwhelming. All in all, I liked it, but wish it could have been even better.

So, RE8, a game heavily inspired by RE4, a game that defined third-person shooters, gets a third person DLC. And in that DLC's new campaign, they just completely ditch all the RE4 inspiration, and go back to RE7 gameplay. What?

i love good dads

Really enjoyed the return to 3rd person for the dlc and now the whole original story mode for village! Only pet peeve was not a whole lot of weapon customization/variety and I felt that the story was cut a bit short for Rose's story, other than that very very fun, haven't played the new mercenaries but I'm sure it's fun, just really around for the main game mostly :)

I am once again afraid to go into clothing stores with lots of mannequins, especially at night.

Also, story was cool (albeit weaker than the main story), but third person is janky af in this game
