One of my favorite shooters of all time, a near perfect mix of more realistic and casual elements, has some issues but they can be mostly overlooked

I miss this game all the time. Such a fun realistic shooter, more fps games need to be set in the Vietnam war.

I feel like this probably would have been on par with OG Red orchestra (the mod, the best of the Red Orchestras) but the maps make it almost impossible to actually see an enemy past 12 feet and you spend more time teamkilling than not, because everyone looks identical.

become the trees, send the stinky american gi back home

got yelled at by kids who just wanted to scream slurs with a fake vietnamese accent and turned people into pink mist with an RPG

It is super fun and gives a real cool experience. Everyone who can experience this, should experience it.

Its not as milsim as the community pretends it is but its good fun

As the second game it's not bad!

The people that play that game are kinda crazy

Both Rising Storm 2 and Red Orchestra 2 spoiled my former love for the Battlefield franchise (unless we count Forgotten Hope 2).

Rising Storm 2 really stroke a good balance between Mil-Sim and arcadey style team-based FPS.

The asymmetry between the US/ANZAC/ARVN forces and the NLF/PAVN is fun as heck and pretty balanced imo, except, of course pre-1975 Battle of Saigon in campaign mode, iykyk.

Games fun but it can feel a bit too realistic at times.

Listening to late 60's - early 70's rock, high as fuck, a few brews, makes me feel like I am right there in the jungle. Living people's nightmares. What a game

very different from most of what you'll see from modern FPS games, but i like it for that.

"7.62 millimeters....... Full. Metal. Jacket."

An intense multiplayer shooter that is the perfect half-way point between arcade and full military sim. The game has an incredible amount of care put toward the setting of the Vietnam War, with realistic, detailed maps, and a robust customization system for all factions. Gunplay is brutal, yet satisfying, and the limited quantity of special weapons available forces you to focus on working with your team to survive and capture your objectives. Unfortunately, the population has declined through the years, but you can still find full matches available.

Really makes you feel like you gonna get PTSD when you come back to society and will never be able to adjust

this game is fucking sick. a good balance between immersive milsim and actually having fun

Rising Storm 2 is a really enjoyable multiplayer experience with brutal and satisfying gunplay. It's an excellent balance of arcades and realistic gameplay, you can't run around stupidly. We don't have enough Vietnam-era shooters which is a shame.

All ruined by having high ping (100+) on EU servers, rubber banding and constantly getting kicked because of an "invalid packet" when my internet is working perfectly.

A brilliant Vietnam Era FPS let down by the publishers

I would've given this just four stars but i added the extra half star because somehow this game saved me from going down the alt right pipeline

Absolutely glorious Vietnam-War Multiplayer game. The WAR gamemode which lets you fight over all of vietnam, piece by piece through different regions is one of the things, Multiplayer, and games in general should do way more often. Great Vibes. 4/5

I have about 500 hours on this one on Steam. Currently realizing I've never written a review or talked about it in my nearly 6 years of playing it.

This is THE best "realistic shooter" ever. And it is because it hits that perfect amount of arcadey fun and grounded realism.

The gunplay is pure sex, seriously some of the most satisfying shit ever. To see a man running like 100 meters away and just dinking that fucker in the head is pure unfiltered dopamine.

The classes, the customization, the voice acting, the maps, the teamplay, the different factions, the VOIP, the community mods. It is simply just the best.

Seriously, the maps are some of my favorite ever. I recently took a trip to Vietnam, and I was amazed at how some maps were modeled 1x1 with real life.

Insurgency, Squad, Hell Let Loose, etc. does not even come CLOSE to the amount of fun this game brings. Those games focus too hard on realism or too hard on arcadey nonsense, Rising Storm 2 is the perfect medium.

As it is 5-6 years old, player counts are lowering, if you haven't played this game yet, times running out and you'll miss out.

Through my 500 something hours I've gotten my fill and I'm satisfied, though I always play some matches here and there, as nothing scratches that itch quite like Rising Storm 2: Vietnam.
