Despite my love and adoration for Kazuma, I liked Chronicles better. You can see who the mastermind is as soon as he appears. Cases are too long, like in the original saga. In the first game was more entertaining because it was the first time I played with such dynamics, but this one is so boring, what a pain in the ass. Every time the popular jury jumped to their guilty conclusions I wanted to rip their heads off one by one. Very well spun in the end, I guess. I'm getting tired of the gameplay of this saga, it's too rigid, elongated and strict, sometimes it's unnecessary to present irrelevant evidence before the one that is clearly going to advance the plot. It's more fluid than the other AA games, though. If you like the original saga, go ahead and play it.

Beppo is involved in THREE of the most important cases in the series. A witness in 1-3, explained to have made dealings with McGilded in 1-5, and a sandwich in 2-4/2-5. He is iconic.

You'd be very dumb to skip out on this game along with the first one if you are even remotely an Ace Attorney fan. It has some of the best written characters in the franchise and it isn't as gimmick plagued compared to the later games in the mainline Ace Attorney series. Episodes 4 and 5 in this game rank among the best episodes I've ever played in the entire franchise, although it has a deus ex machina in the end that kind of soiled my appreciation for this game.

Despite that, dare I say I've enjoyed this game overall more than the first Ace Attorney game, which is my favorite game mostly in due part to Rise From The Ashes.

Herlock Sholmes is the best.
I could listen to the music all day long.
Makes many weird and wacky decisions that didn't always work for me, but it was really satisfying second chapter of this duology.

one of the games that i would kill to experience again for the first time, the other being grim fandango

I still love TGAAC but the more I think about the ending the more I dislike how this game and its characters were written. Kazuma claims he wants to change the legal system, turns out all of the world's problems were behind one guy, Sholmes defeats said guy by appealing to the QUEEN OF ENGLAND, spitting in the face of any actual nuanced commentary on justice (and rips off Beanix' character from AA4)!!!

It's so weird seeing uncontested and unconditional praise for this game on backloggd when I see several obvious flaws in its writing. You know that cutscene after chapter 3 where Kazuma is revealed to be alive? Van Zieks is there in the beginning and just fucking disappears. This causes multiple other plotholes regarding van Zieks' knowledge of Kazuma, and whether he knows Genshin is his father. Ryunosuke and Susato don't even hug Kazuma...their friend who they thought fucking died!!! What??????

(im on a mission to finish some left over reviews from the games ive played and post them before the end of the year or else theyre gonna show up in the game count of 2024 dont talk to me so its been a while since ive played \insert current game\ have fun with what i remember about it)

now we all know this duology is some of the best ace attorney out there so im not gonna add anything else for a debate that already ended years and years ago that being said i still need to put some thoughts out or else im gonna combust

for starters this is the second part of one of the best games I've played this year because I love ace attorney so on and so forth i want sherlock to actually fuck me in the ass im not gonna lie there wasnt a single time he was on the screen that i was not dissociating thinking about the stuff i want him to do to my hole i was just drooling in front of him wow what a fucking man absolutely incredible man please show me your dick or im gonna go crazy rest assured i will do that

BUT ! disclaimer I already talked about music art style gameplay shit like that and for the most part this game is absolutely identical so I won't concentrate on that but if you want to see part one that I released some time in the past on this website with fucking stupid ass people here you go

most of the stuff we all know and loved from the first game were mostly untouched the ,music is still booming the art direction is still stellar and the gameplay has been the same for as much as i can remember now im not really too keen on the idea of recycling basically everything from a game to actually put in the next installment BUT theres a but i think that if they manage to recontextualise most of the things in the game (EG majoras mask) i honestly would have no problem with it and its definitely what happened here they managed to create something completely new and reuse stuff that they already worked with so who am i to judge

before going in depth im just gonna say please play this duology its the best ace attorney (lie) and youre definitely not gonna cry your eyes out (lie)

so most of this will be story beats and therefore SPOILER WARNING JUST PLAY THE GAME ALREADY FUCK

while TGAA actually had a really good base for a sequel i definitely did not think they would manage to blow it out of the park with this one and make a damn good conclusion to the whole duology

most of the returning characters were either recontextualised or actually explored even better than the first game and this is where youre gonna CARE for them most of the mysteries are gonna lift off and what youre gonna be left with is the found family trope we all know and love susato had a complete improvement by my part she definitely became the most badass character of the entire game theres absolutely nothing that i can say to make justice to such an incredible woman the only thing i can do is kneel and pay respect shes INCREDIBLE absolutely fucking incredible ryuunosuke didnt actually have an incredible character development because he already had enough time to develop in the first game but thats nothing compared to whats gonna happen with my husband and beloved SHERLOCK HOLMES UGHHHHHHHHH I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU oh yeah and i also love his relationship with iris and when i tell you that this game actually made me bawl my eyes out because of these two wowwwww who wouldve thought

and barok is still super sexy i guess and also gets some incredible plot twists here and there

while its sure been a while since i last finished this game because as i advertised this is me speedwriting these reviews because procrastinating till new years and i forgot most of the plot twists and story beats i can assure you that this is still one of the tightest experiences in the franchise till now rest assured but i DO remember the different episodes so im gonna talk about them at least

the blossoming attorney is SUCH an opening act and this is literally the episode that made me realise susato is a damn good fucking character shes a tomboy a lesbian and actually makes for a really good attorney now take that its definitely the most fun chapter in the game i gotta be honest ive always loved tutorial cases because i dont need to use my stupid mind to complete them and while its super short they actually make it up by putting the absolute best soundtrack of the whole game in this one which is the objection theme UGHHH I LOVE THIS ONE WHAT THE HELL absolutely bomb beginning case and i loved the relationship between susato and her girlfriend true highlight of the entire game

now i have no idea if its something that you also felt but every time susato is on screen and her theme plays out i just begin tearing up like i dont know what kind of pavlov conditioning they did to me but as soon AS i see her on screen i just begin tearing up i care so MUCH about her its unreal i just want her to be happy can a woman be happy in victorian age london

the second case is actually the one that almost made me gonna drop this game altogether literally the return of soseki which is fine because i kinda want to suck his dick but we already know him and the entire filler arc is absolutely SOOOOOO FUCKING BOOOOOORING im sorry its just incredibly sleep inducing and im glad it actually gets better as soon as you get to the third one

the scientist case is interesting and has some cool returning characters here and there now im gonna address the elephant in the room i absolutely do not care for gina im sorry if you love her but i always forget shes even a character in this series not gonna lie and while this is definitely not the highlight of the entire game i still found it kind of interesting (even though i remember it being longer than it needed any right to be)

last but not least the final two cases now maybe youre not gonna believe me but i remember only the superficial stuff in these chapters like gregson dead asougi alive yada yada im sorry this review is a mess but anyway what i wanted to say is whatever happens in these two cases is literally the best thing that ever happened to me because asougi is alive and breathing and i can actually thirst for him now lets get it

I 👁 want 😋 him 👴 to step 🚶 on 🔛 me and crush 😘📏 my skull 💀 while I 👁 beg 🙏 for mercy.I want 😋 him 👴 to crush 😘📏 my balls 🍒 and make 💘 it as painful 🍆😫 as possible.Yes mmm 😣 please 🙏🏻 daddy 👅👨 crush 😘📏 me to death 💀👵 with your 👈 boots 👢 mmm.Stomp on 🔛 my neck 🐪 oh 🙀 yeah ✅ mmm 😣 kick 👟💯🔥 my head 💆 and crush 😘📏 it and call 📲 me worthless 💩💤 oh 😳 yes ✅ mmm.Crush my spine 😂 please 🙏 mmm 😤 oh 😳 yes 👍-

stomp

crunch 😁💦🔥 sound 🔊

cooms

dies 💀☠⚰

Oh 😳 yes 👍 please 🍆🙏 step 🚶 on 🔛 my corpse ⚰ more oh 🙀 yes ✅☝ mmm 😤.

so whatever since I don't remember what actually happens I can say that all the asougi interactions made me want to unalive myself whenever I thought about him being dead I wanted to cut my life short and even now realising that he's alive i want to cut my life short I literally CANNOT win

that being said the finale is probably the most depressing shit ever in the franchise since the ending of aa3 its ILLEGAL in my house to talk about the ending of aa3 im not joking here and this is a damn good contender at the saddest conclusion to the entire series wowzers nothing is gonna beat this one forreal

what really makes or breaks this game is definitely the characters whenever i think about the found family trope literally everything that happened to asougi sherlock actually being a depressed fella iris saying that sherlock is the best daddy in the whole world ryuunosuke existing yknow theres a lot to cry on so have fucking fun

probably my favorite moment of the game is sherlock and watson tip tapping on the deduction dance or whatever with possibly the best song in the entire game apart from the one in the susato case absolutely fucking groundbreaking and i gotta say that sherlocks deductions are still my favorite part of the games sure theyre easy as shit most of the times but i dont care i love to fuck i mean dance with sherlock and do all sorts of tongue tricks i meant umh feet tricks no i meant tip tap moves and actually taking his big long girthy umh brain in ,mm mmmm ,, ,,

i need to close this shit now or its gonna get dangerous byeeeee play this game

COSCU? ES GOD COSCU? ES GOOOOOOOOOOD COSCU? ES GOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

last case is peak ace attorney but sad to see no ryunosuke and prosecutor kiss scene

Replayed GAA 2: Resolve. Changed me, Saved my life, Saved the medium, The chance of anything ace attorney topping this is really low. The rest doesn't even need to be explained it's just that good

no, shu takumi, saying that societal issues is rampant doesn't mean you can't fall into those traps to an even worse degree.

I truly think this may be the best entry in the series. The way the entire story of the first, and second entry wrap together in the final cases is absolutely masterful. I was in shambles over the peak being injected into my brain. Amazing cast of characters, with an incredible story. Banger.

one of the best games ive ever played. god so fucking good. clears every other aa game (even aai2). My only note is that i wish van zieks had better writing for most of the games bc hes so hot

To be honest I didn't enjoy the first case in this game much because of some leaps in logic that I didn't agree with at all. It was the first time in The Great Ace Attorney where I felt completely lost on what to do, having to look up a guide. But then the rest of the cases came, and I loved them! This game has you unearthing a really big conspiracy, and seeing the pieces fit together is as satisfying as this series gets. The finale was a bit too reliant on a deus ex machina for me to rate it any higher, but this is a very good game and my new favorite in the series.

cried so hard my head hurt pt 2

fuck you capcom

That was absolutely amazing. TGAA2 is a culmination not just of the setup from the previous game, but from all of Shu Takumi's works. It resolves (pun not intended) every mystery set up by its prequel in a satisfying manner through a series of absolute banger cases, accompanied by a wonderful set of mechanics. I can confidently call it my favorite game in the series, as well as my favorite Shu Takumi game, period. I completely understand why, until recently, this was the highest rated standalone game on Backloggd.

Played: August 2023

Higher highs than Great Ace Attorney: Adventures and lower lows.
On pure drama, it's through the roof. I'm obsessed with the decision to split up "Pursuit" as two separate tracks in the score. What a surge of amplitude. When you get on that dog-on-a-bone thread with a penultimate line of questioning, and then the track shifts from Prelude to the main Pursuit theme, you will feel as if you're marshaling all the forces of truth in the world to rain down justice on a corrupt influence. A single katana slash in music form.

The characters remained endearing, and Ryunosuke Naruhodo is cemented as a protagonist for the Ace Attorney history books. 90% of the core mystery was a thrill to seek through and resolve.

Yet, I also can't hide some disappointment. The difficulty couldn't make up its mind if I should be thinking only a half step or a whole 2 steps ahead, often within the same case, which is all around a step back from the intuition honed in the previous game. Iris as a character never clicked with me. A couple of the secondary narrative resolutions also weren't as satisfying as could be.

THEMATIC SPOILER (no plot details): The biggest letdown, however, was the story's choice to pull back on indicting the structural forces of Western hegemony that these two games spent so many combined trials and tribulations to pursue. In the end, the villainry is reduced to powerful individuals. And while it doesn't negate the critical eye that came before, the status quo is unjustly glorified. I had such high hopes as this duology bared its fangs for 90% of the way only to sand things down at the end. Your tolerance may vary at certain gimmicky plot copouts, but the heart of my issue lies with the story poising itself to be something sharper than its gift-wrapped ending turned out to be. END THEMATIC SPOILER.

Still, these are a pair of series high marks. No assistant quite hits like Susato, including her role in the killer opening case of the second game. All in all, extremely worth anyone's time, Ace Attorney veteran or not.

Well this is a weird one. Really disappointing and I'm not sure how much of this is me and how much of this is the game.

Let's start, I really did like the first one, I thought it was fantastic. The original great ace trilogy just kept getting better as it went, and I loved how everything in the third game circled back to the first to make it an outstanding game and my favorite in the franchise.

This one however? Man I'm not sure. Some of the story decisions are very questionable here, and it has some of my least favorite tropes in media. Bringing back people from the dead, that have a lasting emotional impact always bothers me, and when that happened in this game, it left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

The final moments of the trial I just realized that I really wasn't too interested in the climax of this game, and I'm not sure if I was just bitter over the twists itself, or if I have just burnt myself out on VN's this year (cause lord have I played a lot).

In reality the game is probably at least half a star to a star higher then I'm rating here. I was just flat out bored by the end though and finding it to be a slog, and I had almost no interest in the final mystery (with it also being very obvious what it was and not a great twist)

Huge disappointment and shock for me, especially with how well received this game was. Not for me unfortunately.

Esse é o pico de video games em geral, meus amigos, não tem como ultrapassar essa obra não.

The most complete Ace Attorney game. I think there are multiple great Ace Attorney games, but none quite weave a story throughout the game and bring it together in the end like this one. A great cast, fantastic music, and genuinely thoughtful cases make this what I think is the best Ace Attorney game.

this actually made me feel an emotion. several in fact. perhaps all of them. so ive graduated from being a giant boulder to being a person. thank you naruhodo ryunosuke.

Excellent narrative. Nails the last case, although sections are very long and it is a slog if you rush through it. Go to sleep come back tomorrow morning and relax while you play it (:

it delivers. for better or worse. it pulls apart dgs1, digs through its dirty laundry, nothing unaccounted for. its answers are decent, but it sure does take its time. 25 hours into what is essentially 55 hours of this overarching story, the pacing is at a CRAWL

Lovely game with fun characters and many plot twists. I however did not feel super satisfied with the final two cases and the mysteries they contain. The animations and court system peaked here in the series however.
