What can I even say?

This game is a masterpiece through and through. I have never smiled and laughed at any other game as much as I have here. I've also never been this blown away at a game before. I think the part that sold me was when the game starts talking to you the second time you log into it. It was fun playing around and trying to find out how to get each ending. I found the narrator charmingly amusing the whole way through. This game can both be weird fun and strangely sad and somber at the same time. In one play through you will be laughing the entire way through and the next you can be close to tears. This game has officially bumped Doom 2016 out of my top five.

A critique of The Stanley Parable itself would be too ironic for me. An irony that I’m not keen on taking part of, much less if it means creating the opportunity to be made fun of by the devs when The Stanley Parable: Ultra Mega Deluxe Director’s Cut or something comes out.

Instead, I wanted to express how surreal it was to begin the game at 12:00 AM not knowing that the game asks what the time is first thing when booted up, as the default time IS 12:00 AM.

And I realized that only when booting up the game for the second time; it asked the time again, and I adjusted it accordingly. The game mentioned how it was pissed off at how I didn’t adjust the time the first time I booted it up but calmed down after I actually adjusted it the second time around, jokingly saying that it must had actually been 12:00 AM then. But it was.

The coincidence itself is cool and all but it actually mentioning that afterwards was just an awesome meta moment that made the whole game worth it.

An interesting work that I’m sure would’ve really impacted me if I played it when I was younger and didn’t know anything about it, but even playing it now I can respect how well written it is. The closest I’ve ever felt to reading a Douglas Adams book as a game

This game is still wild, but I appreciate the added content as a commentary on nostalgia and unnecessary sequels. Also, bucket.

I love the sound effects and the narrator I guess. Pretty short game though, but it is definitely replayable.

One of the most pleasant enjoyments i ever enjoy.
And also because of the

PARAAAAAAA...

the very deconstruction of a re-release on top of the original's existing mastery of its craft. a must-play.

What if The Stanley Parable was even better?

Perhaps he simply missed a memo

Boy I haven't been this disappointed in a game in a while. No one to blame but myself, I guess, but I really assumed there would be something else going on here. I assumed that this was like, a puzzle game or something and that all the (iconic) narrative shenanigans were layered on top of that base, a la Portal. But no, no, there's not really a game here at all. It's just the narrative shenanigans, which are pretty neat for a few minutes but I imagine would have been way more cool if the entire concept of the game wasn't already sort of out there in the public consciousness.

Instead, it's just a bunch of short stories built upon branching narrative paths but when there are so many of them, it just gets kind of tedious to replay the opening stages of them again and again. I'm sort of shocked that there's not an option to just skip to the branch.

not to gatekeep but no one can like this game more than i do i think

Witty and really interesting, Stanley Parable is genius

qualquer coisa que eu falar desse jogo é spoiler, joguem.

The Stanley Parable is my favourite indie game of all time. It combines so many things that I love and crafts them into a hilarious mind bending experience that I really think everyone should try.

This game manages to create one of the creepiest atmospheres just purely via the sound design alone. The Stanley Parable uses silence as a tension builder really effectively as you normally have the narrator talking away but when everything goes silent, it really builds up that amazing creepy atmosphere.

Speaking off The Narrator, he is amazingly portrayed by Kevan Brighting who conveys so many different emotions so well through a character who you dont even see. The Narrator really makes this game what it is with all of his meta dialogue which is something that I am a huge fan of and this feeds right into the next part.

The Stanley Parable is one of the best non linear games you can get. I think there is 42 endings in total including ones added in the Ultra Deluxe edition, which makes for a good few hours of playtime. Thankfully most endings can be either stumbled upon or worked out by taking different paths. Since the game doesn't tell you which endings you have and haven't got, if you are going the completionist route looking up a guide is probably a good idea. Each ending feels different and has really unique dialogue, a few of my favourites are: "The Zending", "The Games Ending", "The Not-Stanley Ending" and "The Confusion Ending".

Visually for an indie game it looks fantastic, great landscapes and textures. The office looks great and is designed in a great way where you can never really know what you are going to turn the corner and see. It also features some amazing ambience music.

One of the best Indie games of all time and 100% worth playing.

also bucket

Finished nearly all the normal and sequel endings. Has a fun witty premise but very quickly wares off and playing the game becomes a chore just to see the endings, most of which are very random and unrelated to what you actually do

play if you haven't played the original. play if you've played the original. proof that not every game has to be conventionally "fun" to be a work of art

“Stanley lifted the bucket into his arms, and a wave of comfort rushed over him.” that should tell you how much I love this game. “Good job, you made it to the bottom of the mind control facility. You jumped down the catwalk, you should’ve been careful. (You should’ve been careful) It used to be a bug, but now it’s an ending. (now it’s an ending)” Yeah this game’s amazing and the narrator is funny unlike some dumb steam reviews say. Seriously though, the commentary on the fact that steam reviews can be a little dumb was really funny to me. Overall an outstanding game.
