As with the other games in the franchise it has high highs and low lows but a lovable cast of characters that make up for the weaknesses in plot and gameplay.

On the gameplay end this one is dragon engine again which I like significantly better than the alternative used in the rest of the series sans kiwami 2.

Story wise, it starts out strong with the introduction of some lovable new characters, but falters towards the end when it tries to redeem a domestic abuser, and then Kiryu seems to learn none of the lessons the game seems to be trying to teach him.

Despite the Dragon Engine's first steps, I was really really into this game during the first half; the story was very engaging, especially knowing that it's supposed to be the end of Kiryu's saga, and I got very good Yakuza 3 vibes from Onomichi and it's very lovable set of characters.
Unfortunately the story lost me a bit in the middle. I think there are too many instances where you get hours of cutscenes interrupted by 10 minutes of gameplay, and dialogues never felt this long in the series. Everything being voiced is a problem to me, as I used to read non-voiced text way faster than they talk and I could have my own pacing. It feels weird doing that now that they actually talk and that it's all presented as proper cutscenes despite the janky animations, so I just listen to them and get bored fast.
I do really like the ending (and by that I mean it made me tear up) but I feel like I would have enjoyed the game more if it was solely focused on Kiryu and Haruka without necessarily another big conspiracy. All the characters are great tho.

Now about this Dragon Engine : The game looks very very pretty, that's a thing. Lights are particularly well rendered. Fighting looks very cool, very fluid and all, but it's very sloppy and gets worse when you're up against more than 10 guys, which happens a lot. Also kiryu's moveset seems to be lighter than ever, which makes combat feel very very repetitive.
Minigames and activities are still pretty fun (I was surprised by the fishing), but Clan Creator is way less interesting to play than the one in Kiwami 2, and Baseball team management has 0 tutorial somehow ?

It's a bit sad for a game that's supposed to be that important in the series to feel rushed and unpolished like that. But it still has it's great moments.
Not sure how I'll look back on this one.
I'm curious to see what's next, I hope it was worth it to do more Kiryu stuff and negate this very clear send-off haha

mimo swoich wad, jedna z lepszych odsłon serii

yakuza 6 oh man, the first dragon engine game.. and it definitely shows!

jokes aside this game was not as bad as people say, sure it's combat is not the greatest, but theres alot to love about this game too!

the story was pretty good! it was made to be kiryu's last game(and we know that was not the case) and while it wasn't the greatest finale for kiryu's entire arc, on it's own it definitely great! as you've noticed on the game cover, haruka has a baby!? and now were on a search for his father? seems intriguing! while the big twist of the game wasn't anything special, the twist of the actual father was definitely unexpected! kiryu might look very selfish here, and he is, but he's doing what he can to protect haruto especially since the hospital did not care for him that much. despite haruka's big mess she caused at the end of 5, you can't help but feel terrible for what she's going through, and especially the orphanage! diago, majima, and saejima quite literally do nothing as they get sidelined in kiryu's final game which left a bad taste in my mouth, hell even akiyama doesn't get to do much but still a miracle compared to the other 3. the hirose family are pretty damn funny and i like their dynamics! the main antagonist for kiryu's "final" game is not great in terms of being a final antagonist for kiryu, but he's certaintly a goddamn scumbag with no reddeming qualities. the ending still got me despite the weirdness, and i still liked the story at the end of the day!

the gameplay definitely felt odd for me as it's completely different from the previous game, it was slow and not very responsive for the first half of the game. it gets better in the second half, but the core of the combat still remains. the game introduces ragdoll physics to everything and it's pretty fun to mess around with! especially on pc where it's sometimes bugged and they fly in the sky

the side content is massive! with all of them being voice acted? that's a first! and it must've costed alot especially with the likeness characters. the soundtrack is as good as you expect, especially theory of beauty!

overall i enjoyed my time with yakuza 6 despite it's hiccups! would recommend

What this game lacks in narrative depth it makes up for in brevity and raw emotion.

It's one of my favourite entries, the story feels conclusive on it's own (even if 7 and Gaiden exists) and leaves you with a bittersweet ending for a franchise full of bittersweet endings

This was a really cool yakuzer. Such a bittersweet ending and didn't break the streak of yakuzer endings making me cry. Half star taken off, barely any Akiyama.

Didn't expect to like this game as much as i did considering i wasn't a huge fan of Kiwami 2, and i can definitely see it growing on me even more with time.

Chronologically this was the first showcase of the dragon engine and it shows as this game suffers from a lot of issues, especially the combat which is the worst in the series so far. Yet, this game's narrative, while still has its weak points sometimes, was honestly impressive to me and the game handled the theme of "fatherhood" really well. The cast was amazing and I've found myself caring about most of the newly introduced character. But above all, Someya is and will forever be HIM.

Kiryu's arc within this game, can at first seem like just a repetition of his during Yakuza 5 but the more i played the more that thought started fading away. Seeing Kiryu's more emotional side and become more dependable on others shows just how much he has grown and changed as a person throughout his Journey so far and the ending perfectly encapsulate what he went through and what he was trying to achieve for the past 2-3 games. Favorite ending of the game and while i know there's still more to unfold concerning Kiryu's saga, I'm satisfied with this one and excited to see what's left of this amazing journey full of different emotions.

kiryu es el thorfinn de los videojuegos

genuinely wild that rgg studio was truly considering making kiryu's final game a glorified tech demo for the first outing of the dragon engine.

first time i have not enjoyed my time playing a yakuza/like a dragon game. great that everything is voiced until it feels like everything is being strung out to justify that. it just feels so slow and poorly placed, and i realized it was over when i actively avoided trying to activate substories, which should never happen. at least my dislike of yakuza 2/yakuza kiwami 2 was because the backhalf of it tanked my opinion. here i was fighting uphill from chapter 1.

i don't even have thoughts on controversial plot points other than 'that happened, sure' because i was just wanting to finish the game because i was bored. i shouldn't be bored playing these, i haven't been bored playing these until this one! again, it feels like a showcase for the new engine than prioritizing the usual aspects of the franchise (y4+5 pending, i'm moving onto gaiden and infinite wealth after this).
