Completed exceeded any expectations I had, incredible. I can't believe they made an Avengers Endgame moment in only two games. Everything after you blow the horn is immaculate.

That final shot of him looking at the shrine where he is the hero and loved by everyone. One of the best things I have ever seen in games, Christopher Judges performance/the animators went off in that scene, and then the score comes in!

I don't think this games looks insanely good to make it a shoe-in for best Art Direction (it still looks amazing ofc) but whoever animated that first Ratatoskr scene deserves the world.

I NEED a GDC talk about how they designed the collectibles for this game because they are insanely good, I had 43/48 Ravens by the end of the game! Mad.

Also Playstation All Stars is CANON!

Fun game to play over Christmas but imo its just a worse version of Overcooked/Moving Out etc. Has some really bad input lag on the buttons too which makes it very non newbie friendly sadly

Some of the puzzle solutions are mind bending (derogatory) but you can skip them so it's ok! Had to constantly use the hints function but it's a nice wee game. Nothing special sadly but it's nice.

That final boss really is something huh!

Can really tell the budget increased between the 2 games. Looks really good most of the time and imo it improved on it in every way. Sadly didn't get into the story as much as everyone who raves about it did but I really enjoyed my time with this.

Picross is forever the goat podcast/TV game

I have no clue if I finished this or not, I got to a clear ending and then the game froze, alt+f4'd and restarted and got no indication that I had done anything.

I'm 90% sure I rolled credits but just didn't get the chance to see them.

I find these games interesting but they've not fallen flat for me 3/3 times. I am excited to come back and see more (maybe I haven't actually got to the credits!) but I don't think it'll satisfy me. Also when I say fallen flat I mean I am usually in awe, inspired and blown away in the first half hour, then find the whole game a slog, then I resort to a guide (not this time!) and then am let down by the ending.

I do like that you can watch the whole story in chronological order now though, which is something I really wanted in Her Story and Telling Lies.

Also I can't wait for people on Youtube to explain this to me properly.

Even if I didn't love it, I can't deny this game (and the previous Sam Barlow/Half Mermaid games) are incredibly special. Like ok, I didn't fully get it, I got annoyed at some parts, I thought some of it was unintuitive, but in 7 years there are only three games like this. As a recently graduated game designer, there's just something incredible about this game.

Very similar to the first game with the very minimal plot and some bad checkpoints but overall still quite fun!

I feel like they improved the combat a lot here between games.

I finally finished the True Final Millenium Tower. Oh my gooood! What a game!

The open world Wild Area is quite cool and with Gen 9 coming soon it was a nice look to the future but woah this was not good. Very fetch questy and then incredibly grindy when you need to get a Level 15 Kubfu to level 70! And other than bringing the old Pokemon back this DLC only added like 4 more Pokemon??? Cool.

lol it’s wild how much I remembered this having a proper story, it’s genuinely just “kill Ares” and then a big (good) infodump at the end

Found this really annoying to play in 2022, I don’t think I understood the combat and just spammed the L1+Square spin move the whole time. The checkpoints are really bad at times and some of the puzzles are very annoying.

Still worth playing imo but I just remember it being so much better! Might be due to playing most of it on a Steam Deck while watching movies etc but I felt like at times I had no clue what the actual goal of each little area was. Really eager to try out 2 and 3 again to see what improvements they made.

Was kinda not enjoying this and then it crashed and I lost about an hour of gameplay so I took that as a sign (just because it’s a remaster doesn’t mean you can’t add autosave!)

More of the same but instead of the sequel being bigger and better, this feels like they lost the budget. The fun and interesting mini games are replaced with arcade games that I could make, had 0 interest in the story after playing the first game so I was skipping every cutscene. And while the actual gameplay does feel “better”, it’s literally the exact same. I dunno man.

Also the bit where you play as the girl has some of the worst platforming in any game I’ve played. But the ranged fight where you play as the guy was quite cool!

Quite possibly the worst trophy list ever and the lack of some licensed songs you would expect was painful, but I had a really good time with this for the most part

So I'm confused... in a year with both God of War and Elden Ring, is this actually my GOTY?
