I love this game, so my review is very biased… It certainly has its flaws, however it is important to note that this game is absolutely a product of its time, and given that, it’s writing can be easily misinterpreted. For example, the decade-old Naoto trans debate (she’s not… she comes to terms with the fact she can be a strong, self-righteous detective AND a woman); I think this game speaks for the improvement in handling similar topics in newer games and that’s really important. Regardless, this is an absolutely amazing game and one of my favorites of all time, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone willing to try it.
Added bonus— the soundtrack is awesome

Those special topics are not flawed or handled poorly , it's just the people who misunderstands those especially because of our period

It’s not totally flawed; I suppose a better way of putting it is that it’s more so a product of its time. I do feel sometimes people make it out to be a lot worse than it really is. Though these aspects of the game and characters are important because they make way for improvement in games and media we have now. I can definitely see why some things are often misunderstood or misinterpreted nowadays
