A well written and funny point and click adventure game. In a world where everyone is alligators, you get hired by a guy named Pat who believes his family has an event set for tonight to have him killed. He sets you out to get more info. As you explore Alligator New York, you find various family members and friends of Pat who all say how great he is but he's paranoid and scares easily. Is that all there is to it though?

The core gameplay is to roam the city, talk to people, and then do them a favor in exchange for info. Usually you get their name and relation to Pat but they skirt around the topic of "THE EVENT". Only if you do something for them will they maybe hint at what's going on. Usually the favors done for these characters are mini games but they vary wildly from something like swatting flies away from a guy meditating to helping someone clip their zine together so there's an even coverage of topics. Usually the games have something to do with the character and it's a great way to delve into the lore and do worldbuilding.

There wasn't much I didn't like. One core thing that did bug me was that the game is on a timer. "The Event" is at a certain point at night and you arrive in the morning. Every person's favor takes 30 minutes and taking the trolley between locations takes up time too. This leads to you suddenly being at "The Event" before you can talk to and help every character as there are more characters than time. It's sort of a bummer too because there are different endings based on you helping everyone or not so if you want the proper ending you'll need to play through more than once. At the very least they have since added options to quickly pass time and a way to what was mandatory story check in "missions" to mark how far in the day you are. Kind of annoying. Oh and sometimes I encountered a glitch where the cursor would just disappear and would have to back out to the menu and load back in to have it. Kinda suck.

That's about all there is to it. Short and sweet funny game where you play mini games of varying quality. It's neat for sure but I'd recommend waiting for it to be on sale if you're at all hesitant. Recommended if you like adventure games !
