This game exceeded even my highest expectations in almost every way.

I could talk about it for hours but as with Remake I don't think it's possible for me to do it justice, it's peak. I've spent over 200 hours with FF7 Rebirth now and I could easily jump back in for a 3rd playthrough today.

This game is such an achievement, and home to some of the most beautiful scenes, characters and music in memory. If the final part is able to do even half as many things as well as this does, then we're in for a phenomenal trilogy of games.

As an aside, getting the platinum for this was insanely fun and surprisingly easy ... until the last few combat simulations. It took me around 40 hours over 5 days to get them done. I am begging that part 3 is easier πŸ₯Ή
Thanks for reading folks, hope you're all doing well!πŸ™

I don't have too much to say about Peakmin 4 but I'm really gunna miss Oatchi going back to play 1 and 2 ...

Biggest complaint by far is that some late-game cave enemies are super BS and can devour far too many piks at once if you don't have the right crew/approach (I'm ngl I soloed half the final cave as Oatchi) -- This wasn't bad for most of the game but it got to a point where I'd only have a couple dozen of one type and I'd lose all of them instantly if I got licked or knocked over or screeched at the wrong moment. Skill issue I'm sure but still a bummer.

In terms of positives though, everything else! Level designs were great, music is beautiful, having so many pikmin types was fun (even if half of them were so rare it was easier to use Oatchi) -- This was really fun to just sit down with before bed and I really can't believe I spent nearly 30 hours on it before reaching the true ending. There's something so addicting about figuring out how to get stuff done and then watching cute lil guys put the work in.

Really recommend this to anyone interested, super chill time (until it was the most stressful thing ever, but that's over now, it can't hurt me 😌) - easy to get into and honestly just buy it regardless so we real gamers can get a 5th one :p
It even has hands down the most hateable villain in all of media πŸ₯Ή

That'll do it anyhow, thanks for reading folks, hope you're all well! I'm 110 hours deep in Infinite Wealth so hoping to finish that this week, review will likely end up similar to this one but we'll see -- Until then! πŸ™

Some of the imagery and ideas were good but shortfalls in the game design and some particularly on-the-nose writing made for an ultimately mediocre experience.
Honestly I'm mostly upset that they had a cute actress in the live-action scenes and forcefully dubbed over herπŸ˜”

Shame the concepts weren't executed better, even bigger shame that such a large part of the response to it is to ridicule teenagers for being depressed over dumb thingsπŸ™ƒ

I probably set myself up to fail for this game by expecting it to be a short, one-sitting 3-4 hour game (screw you HLTB you lying little-!) but here we are.

I didn't know what to expect going into this, but I really enjoyed Hatoful Boyfriend. It was a lil slow to start but was still pretty funny and had its charm.. The early chapters of this, however, were honestly just kinda dull. Chapter 3 was good, and Ch4 was really good, but given how the events unfold it felt as though the first 2 weren't even required as set up for them, so I'm really not sure why half the game was spent on what could've been a single chapter's worth of content, ah well.

Overall, this is saved/carried by its final chapter, the rest of the game has its moments but I didn't really settle in for a good time so much as I was just waiting for it to get good. When it did though, it was right back to what I'd been wanting all along. This game could've easily gotten a 4/5 were it not for the first half of it feeling like a slog for me, the last chapter is well worth playing and I'm really glad it stuck the landing. But unfortunately despite how strong it gets, the early game was honestly just boring, and it wouldn't feel right not to factor that into the score.

Side Note: The trailer on Steam is of the birds all single Jingle Birds.. idk if this is a side-story in the game but it does not happen in the main chapters, I was looking forward to it the whole time goddamnit 😭

Final verdict: If you can speedrun the early chapters paying just-enough attention to keep up, I would recommend this. Otherwise it may only be for you if you really liked the characters from the first game lol

Happy New Year everybody! πŸŽ‰

This isn't quite a 4/5 but I'm going higher to help the avg smh.

[Disclaimer: This 'review' is basically just a ramble I had in DMs with some edits to be real sentences and legible, if it feels like there's even less flow or format than usual, that's why! Also it's kinda long sorry oops ]

The hate for this game is so much more extreme than it deserves. Sure, I miss being able to throw cash registers as much as the next guy, I think they seriously fumbled by not letting you throw melee weapons, but I also think that the separated inventories is a benefit overall. Having only 10 slots or whatever and having to use them for food items, melee weapons and guns was arguably where the first games got their difficulty, but was mostly just kinda annoying. Getting stuck in a fight against humans with 8 melee weapons and 2 sandwiches was an easy way to lose hours of progress, and that's no longer an issue.

They've also removed the super restrictive timer in this game, which again could be called the 'difficulty' of DR1, but if we're being real that game's timers went so hard that if you weren't sprinting everywhere in the optimal order you couldn't do it anyway. There's definitely a charm to that, but the amount of times I failed something, even the entire story mode, just because I went the wrong way or got lost was frustrating. Especially when particularly useful items were often only found in corners of the map, so you'd head to the weapon shop before going to a psycho only to run out of time to fight them on your way back :p

Also, Frank is an ass and the plot is dumb, but there's no pretending that the first 2 games weren't just as silly. This one is just straight up zombie-killing fun, without the timer and with the map being more open with items scattered around more, it feels more like Dead Rising 3 did: You can mess around as much as you want, get sidetracked as often as you like, just play at your own pace. To me personally, that is what Dead Rising should've been like from the start.
Sure, I still wouldn't say that it's great or anything, but in a franchise that's built on killing zombies in dumb ways the only thing this does particularly 'wrong' is redacting our right to throw everday items, and honestly, I kinda got over this within the first 2 hours.

This game may have a random ass COD UI for some reason, but I don't understand why people are so mad or saying it 'killed the series'. When you encounter survivors in this game you can't accidentally kill them in 2 hits and when you save them they run off on their own. They actually run past zombies! Insane right, the first 2 games taught me that all survivors are obsessed with slowly walking to safety or sprinting headstrong into the horde 😭
I honestly believe at this point that it's just nostalgia. "Why can he be megaman" because it's fun killing dozens of the dead with a blaster why is that a negative 😩

I had never played this game before now because I was lead to believe that it was too over the top and had been stripped down to a sandbox. Just "here's a billion zombies and a bunch of dumb weapons, have fun" with no characters, story, nothing. Knowing it had a story and maniacs is all it took for me to wanna play it and now here I am having had a perfectly enjoyable time: It's Dead Rising, I experienced exactly what I expected to while playing a Dead Rising game πŸ˜…

To comment on the game proper: The UI is weird but it's dumb fun and that's really all it has to be, I don't care lol. Also the Christmas/Black Friday theme is perfect for this franchise, don't see enough praise for that. Hearing holiday music on the radio and pause menu is much loved by me, might make an annual habit of spending some time on this each December idk. Besides that the trophy list is atrocious as always. I want this series back, in the RE Engine please 😌

Happy Holidays everyone, appreciate you all greatly❀️

Absolutely a DLC quest in every sense, but damn if this wasn't fun.

After almost half a year since beat the game on Final Fantasy Mode I re-adapted to the combat much quicker than expected. By locking the DLC quest behind 4 or 5 previously-optional ones, I got to get some practice in with measly level 85 enemies before heading into the new lvl 95+ dungeon.
Still almost 20 levels below most of them, it wasn't difficult per se but it did allow for much flashier encounters and more ults and so on -- Enemies all having a billion hp on FF mode got a bit tiresome because the game is so long that by the end it feels like it's just dragging it out, but honestly I think it kind of worked in this DLCs favour, as it prevented me feeling like I was breezing through and gave me more time to, well, play.

The DLC still only took 3-4 hours in which is a good length for what it is, I assume (/hope?) that the other quest releasing next year will be more narratively-driven vs this one being combat, but mostly just so we get some more 'meat' out of it.

In a way this DLC had me feeling a lil souls-y with its bosses, but that may just be my smoothbrain interpreting reading patterns and timing dodges as some unique concept lol. I'll wrap things up but if you're unsure about getting this and you like the combat in the main game, do it. The final boss was a ride, at first I sorta wished it was something more recognisable, but once it got going and the music kicked in and- 😩 So good man, I had a lot of fun with it.

Thanks for reading as always, didn't expect the finale of this to hype me up enough to review but here we are!

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was a game that I adored so, so much, that I couldn't bring myself to start writing a review for it. I could talk about that game for hours, and yet, I'm lost for words.

There is no way to properly explain the way this series hits any more. Half the reason I never tried writing about XC3 was that so much of what I wanted to say would touch on spoilers in one way or another, and given the nature of this expansion the same is going to apply here. (So this is more a rant summarising my feelings on this series as a whole)

One thing I will say, however, is that I am honestly devastated that my memory is as bad as it can be, in particular with this franchise. I have loved, loved all 3 parts of this trilogy but if you asked me to even summarise one of the first 2 games I'd get maybe 5% of the story right, it kinda sucks😭

I'm pretty confident that 3 is my favourite, and not just for recency bias, but the combat, the party, the world, the story, the relationships and development of the characters.. It is truly deserving of the label peak because it genuinely sits at the top of the JRPG mountain in my opinion. I fucking love that game dude, they even added a navigation line to follow!
(Unfortunatley, this expansion removes that again 😭 2 games and 2 expansions to finally stop me from getting lost only to rob me of it again, wounded!)

Anyway if you can't tell I'm already losing myself, these games have got me bad, man. It is all heart, I have no brain, no thoughts (no memory πŸ˜”) - I barely understand myself how they've touched me this much, but there's an undeniable charm and sincerity to them that's really just 😩

To make some comments about Future Redeemed specifically, I fully understand the reasoning behind Matthew et al, but I can't help but wonder if I'd have preferred somehow getting to bring things to fruition with familiar faces. Matthew is great don't get me wrong, but his specific personality archetype is an interesting one to go with for the main character of this expansion lol.
Also, without saying anything else: Holy shit the glow up, the future is not the only thing being redeemed god damn.

Final thoughts I think I preferred the combat and overall dynamics in the main game vs this, and locking arts and accessory slots behind finding rare items instead of your player level is kinda oof, but I got by. It felt a bit like XC3 but stripped back a little instead of further improved which is a shame, but with the bar set by XC3 I really don't think there was anywhere to go but backwards anyway.
Difficulty wise there was one boss near the end that was a huge spike for me, but admittedly I'd been playing somewhat lazily until then anyway and it didn't take too long to overcome it.

Overall: this is insane. This series is nothing short of beautiful and if you don't believe me then the soundtrack alone can prove you wrong with ease. I don't know if I want more or not but I definitely want more of something from this team. Do not let British voice acting put y'all off these games bro, yes I know XC2 sounds kinda goofy but you can play in Japanese if you must and even if you don't I guarantee that the voicework does not detract from how good they are. (Also Mio and Nia's accents are too good to pass up on smh shame on you)

Thanks for reading to all who did, hope it's okay that this is just word vomit but I really wasn't kidding when I said I have no words. Hope you're all having a wonderful December and enjoy any festivities you may or may not partake in. Until next timeπŸ™

Excellent. Looking forward to the next one!

Jedi Survivor is better than Fallen Order in just about every way in my opinion. I enjoyed the first game for sure, but I was never really 'excited' for it, nor this. After beating this one, well let's just say the reveal for the next one is going to be hype 😌

The story (while starting a little weird considering where FO left off) was pretty straightforward, but is told in such a way that I think this worked to its benefit. There were still twists, some more obvious than others, and only one moment that was egregiously silly. One reveal in particular seemed so glaringly obvious that I spent the whole game calling it out and then questioning whether I was just being cynical or if it was a red herring, and while I am of course a genius who clearly knows everything, my favourite thing about this was that the game handled this event in such a way that it was possible for me to have this ongoing struggle, and I think that's cool as shit. When I was proven right it wasn't with a sigh and an "of course", it was an "I FUCKING KNEW IT!!" - and if a game can get me that invested and excited over a "cliche" or an "obvious" reveal then it must be doing something better than everything else I'm just sayin'.

The characters in particular shine bright in this entry. Cal is a genuinely interesting protagonist and while a lot of the arcs and tropes he goes through in this can be compared to similar stories, some as recent as this year, that doesn't detract from how much of a blast it was to experience his. Cameron Monaghan's performance is as great as expected and by the end I really found myself invested in Cal's story, and I will be there when the next chapter of it releases.

Quickfire some other comments now the gush is over:
The environments felt much less overwhelming in this entry, and the navigation assist was a godsend in helping me not get lost. The maps are still pretty big and while I could understand people complaining about bouncing between the same few planets it didn't bother me at all.

The combat felt better as well, it's still not amazing with the stances being limited to so few combos, but having them at all was a nice touch. I do agree with the masses that only being able to switch between two of them at a time is a shame but it is what it is.

And most importantly: Merrin 😌

That'll do it, don't sleep on this one folks, in a year absolutely stacked with bangers this definitely sits up in the upper echelons, don't let the fact that it's still buried under other GOATs stop you from playing it!

Thanks for reading to all who did, hope you're have a great week. After I'm done with the P5T DLC story I'm gunna be going on a brief PS5 hiatus to focus on some Switch and PC games, not sure if or what I'll review of those but first up is XC3 Future Redeemed so stay tuned πŸ™

P.S. I don't know whose idea it was to make the enemies in this game so pitiful that I feel bad for killing them but it's equal parts hilarious and 'aw :(' ... Hearing someone ask if Jedi wound people because they don't want to get wounded and then having to cut them in half moments later is πŸ˜” RIP Rick, bud. ✊

Damn shame this one ngl, there's a really good 2-3 hour game here but the walking speed being set to fuckin 0.5% and half the PS trophies being "stand still for 5 minutes lol" make the whole game feel like a waste of time.

The story was genuinely interesting and the map is very well crafted, if I was able to move around it at human speed I'd have had a wonderful time exploring, but playing as what I assume was a 200lb camera being pushed around by a small child made it feel more like reading a picture book on a tablet with shitty internet.

It seriously takes almost a full minute to get from the front door of a house down the yard and across the road, bro has a fucking 3 hour commute to his shop half a mile away.
Anyway I'm sure everyone is as bored of walking-speed rants/complaints as they were being let down by what should've been a much better game.

Thanks for reading if you did, sorry for the moan but it's gone 4am now and this game would've been twice as good were it half as slow. Can't wait to speedrun it again tomorrow for the platinum! :D

Hope you all have a lovely December, hopefully I'll have a proper review before it's over but brief thoughts for now: Persona 5 Tactica was great, much better story than expected. Jedi Survivor has been really good so far, Ace Attorney isn't as good as TGAA was but it's a joy and Maya is 😌

13 years ago, Alan Wake became my favourite game of all time... I am so fucking happy that Sam (/Remedy) got to make this.

Signalis is 'old school' survival horror done well.. Too well honestly.

The limited inventory was a really big hurdle for me (and it seems many others) in the early hours of this game, applying a level of difficulty that very quickly becomes more frustrating than anything. Bringing a healing item, a weapon and a flashlight takes up half your inventory alone, leading me personally to an endless cycle of backtracking just to drop something off, or worse - having to go all the way back through rooms of enemies just to get a torch so you can see a new room with more enemies... And so many items than you can't carry them all since you have a torch now πŸ₯Ή

Once you adapt to this restriction it becomes a lot easier though I think. I'm very much a resource hoarder in these games, convinced that I'll need a million health kits and 30 guns for the final boss alone, so I often left more enemies standing than I should've, only to run into them on every trip through a room.. I also kept pack-muling things back to the chest 'just in case' despite going the whole game without using some items at all... Don't be like me and I'm sure you'll have a much easier time :p

Besides the inventory/difficulty, there were some technical shortcomings in terms of doors not working if I turned slightly, taking so long to pick items up that I take free damage, or simply aiming my weapon (did not like that)
- but for a game made by two people it's pretty solid on the whole. It's a bit abstract in it's storytelling for a decent chunk of its runtime, but by the end things come together and are made a lot clearer. I definitely wouldn't say I understood everything, what with how long I wasted backtracking and getting lost giving me time to forget, but I feel like I took away enough that even on the surface level I liked the story.

All that said I don't want to ramble too long because I've got a busy night ahead -- short version is that if you're at all interested you should give this game a try, with it being on Gamepass as well it deserves at least a shot to win you over.

Thanks for reading as always, quicker one today because I'm hoping to finish off the last couple of chapters of FF7 Remake before bed as well, doubt I'll review it cause I couldn't do it justice, but tl;dr it's my all time favourite 😌
Enjoy your spooky season everyone, upcoming completions are hopefully Sea of Stars, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (slowly but surely) and I'm considering starting Clock Tower 3 once I beat FF7R, we'll see. Until next time!

Considering how many walking sim indie games there are where you explore what happened on a space ship or station you'd think the concept would get old fast - admittedly I wasn't too eager to play this because I've seen so many of them already, but I'm glad to say I was pleasantly surprised.

It's a simple type of game for sure, but when enough care is put into writing and performing the characters it's hard not to get invested. The fact they normally come with quick and easy platinums makes for a perfect recipe to encourage me to keep experiencing them too, I like it :)

Now back to my many peak stupidly-long games to completely ruin my monthly completions figure 😌

I don't think I'm going to forget this game for a very long time. If at all.

As someone who's never really played CRPGs this game was barely on my radar right up to its release. I kept forgetting what it was and innately rejecting it as something that would be too hard to get into and demand so much time that I'd never get around to finishing it. I don't remember exactly what it was that finally sold me on trying it, but once my interest was piqued I was thoroughly "in" - (honestly, might've been an interview with the Larian head in the FPS Podcast)

I want to keep this one "short" so I won't be going into much detail, but this game is insane. The fact every conversation is mocapped adds so much to the immersion, and the writing and performances are thoroughly excellent to boot. The world designs and mechanics allow for heaps of creative freedom, so much so that the previous "obvious" GOTY contender for this year has (imo) been given a run for its money. Tears of the Kingdom looked to have it on lock, in large part due to it's player freedom... I can't believe Larian came along in the same year to one-up them in this regard, but perhaps the coveted title isn't as in-the-bag as once thought. [Especially considering the slew of flaws TOTK brought with it from BOTW... hell I still haven't finished it lol]

Anyway! I adore this game, it's been forever since I got so lost that 12-15 hours could pass without me noticing, and that's what this game has been giving me almost every day for around a month now. I'm already excited to replay it and take different paths because - while I did follow every quest as far as I could without committing to conflicting ones - I know damn well there are countless hours of content, encounters and characters that I didn't see. I'm also eager to play with a controller and see how different the third person perspective is.

To include a gripe, the biggest downside of the game is either the combat being pretty brutal at times if you're not prepared or familiar with strategies that can be game-changing (protip: you can heal multiple people with splashed potions, and if you stand on fire all you have to do is drop the pot, it's free!) In spite of this, the combat was still one of my favourite parts because there's always so much you can do and once you find your method, it's amazing.

Second point: Silent protagonist.. The narrator is amazing and I love her, and the custom MC's voicelines for certain things are a nice touch, but there are some conversations that feel kinda weird having your response just be clicking the line without audio, or watching yourself pull a face instead of saying anything. Small issue that I got used to quickly but yeah, kinda weird. I wonder if playing as the Legacy characters negates this πŸ€”

That's it! I've rambled enough, if you're interested please give this game a shot, yes it's long but the majority of it is also optional and you could always do things the quick and easy way if you prefer. If you can't tell this is my current GOTY, which is insane because I'll have gotten a Final Fantasy, a Resident Evil and Alan Wake 2 this year (jury's still out on that last one πŸ‘€)

Hope you've all been well, quick shoutout to Paranormasight while I'm here. Idk if I'll bother reviewing but play it blind, it's really good! Have a good September folks, next review will be God knows what. I'm onto Sea of Stars and Starfield next. Thanks for reading!😌

P.S. Quick addendum I've heard people say Act 3 is bloated but I think it's just more dense and has a lot of quest conclusions and bigger encounters and all that. Also heard people say the ending is sudden but they must've gotten less satisfying ones because mine felt very well paced. The only things it didn't immediately address either aren't important or could easily be DLC follow-ups.

Really glad this one turned out as good as it did, given how little I actually remember from Danganronpa - aside from loving all 3 games - I was cautiously optimistic going into this and effectively got exactly what I wanted 😌 (..almost)

Thinking back on the whole game, I think the most disappointing thing for me would be that it's a little easy, or hand-holdy (pun intended.) I'm not sure if there are difficulties but some of the questions were so guided that you didn't even have to figure it out to get the answer, which I can only assume was true for Dangan as well but as mentioned I really don't remember a whole lot from those in terms of details like that. A personal peeve more than anything and something that is of course necessary to a point, but as someone who enjoys playing detective it's a little bit underwhelming to figure something out and then basically have the answer highlighted for me - what of my pride, game!? 😩

That aside though, the cases themselves are pretty solid. There's a noticeable outlier that's weaker than the others for a number of reasons, but even that one likely seems worse than it is on account of it having to follow what I believe to be the best case in the game. Some clues are a bit obvious and clocking onto things before the characters can take you out of it a bit, but I s'pose I can't blame the game for my incredible detective skills

To the surprise of no-one the music is banging, it's very 'Danganronpa' but let's not pretend we didn't all want that anyway. The world setting is cool too, and there are some interesting ways that the game uses it's setting to further the story as well, almost making the rainy city a character itself.

Each Master Detective essentially gets a chapter or case with the protagonist, giving them all their own time in the spotlight and room to leave a lasting impression, as well as giving us a chance to see and put their different skills to use. This was a great way of making each case feel different, with even just the approach to your investigation changing drastically depending on who you're with. It helps that they're all unique too of course, with the sort of interesting designs and personalities you expect if you're familiar with that other franchise I won't name again.

The character we spend the most time with however, is our companion Shinigami. I don't know how much they were inspired by our beloved Aiba from AI: The Somnium Files, but the influence is very much there, albeit with enough diversion as to not feel like an imitation. Shinigami definitely has her moments where they maybe leaned a little too hard into one of her traits, but for the most part I found her to be charming in her own way. She learned from the best 😌

Anyway, I feel I've rambled enough - Ironically enough by trying to say as little as possible I've ended up writing a more 'review-y' review than usual lol, good job me. Definitely recommend this one if you're interested and/or enjoyed their other works. My time played in the end came out to about 60 hours but I reckon an enormous chunk of that is idle time bc I am incapable of focusing on anything even remotely visual novel-ish and will start browsing online stores the minute I hit start πŸ₯Ή

Thanks for reading everyone, hope you're having a great month and enjoying whatever you're working on! Not sure what my next review will be, I'm currently being consumed by Baldur's Gate 3 so I guess we'll see how long that takes me :p

As a franchise that I - or anyone I know - had never heard of before, Sword and Fairy exceeded just about all of my expectations and ended up being a really nice surprise.

To give a little context, my gf has just taken a 2-week trip to visit family, and as such could not play her PS5. Mostly for fun, I decided that in this time I wouldn't use mine either, and finally get some use out of my Gamepass subscription and dust off some Switch games I've been neglecting. It was a perfect plan honestly, I'd probably play tons of games.. right? :)

Every time I've gone through the Gamepass library since it was added, this game has caught my eye. The cover is pretty, the title implies romance within the party, and as an Eastern-made RPG the interest was almost unavoidable. I must've checked the screenshots half a dozen times before installing it and deciding that I'd "just try it" to see how it is, fully expecting some half-baked, incoherent or clunky title. How wrong I was 😌

The cold open maybe wasn't the best draw for the game if I'm being honest, taking place in what would later prove to be the worst setting in the game by far. That said, by starting out with a full arsenal of skills it was quickly clear that the combat was the sort that I would enjoy a lot, which I s'pose makes it a good cold open because it sold me on the game lol.

Immediately after this we switch to Yue Quingshu, the beauty on the box. The character designs, costumes and locations in this game - while admittedly still "AA" in their quality - are really pretty. The overall aesthetic of the game is really colourful and all the major locations look grand and intricate. It's all very well done, and each region or realm has it's own flair, as do its inhabitants. And to top it off, the music is gorgeous. It's hard to describe how but the soundtrack is full of songs that match the tone or emotions on screen, and the inclusion of a library to find and listen to any song at any time is just a nice touch.

To address what is probably the biggest negative I have about this game: It's a skill issue honestly. Chinese as a language is so foreign to me and that really showed while playing this. It's so weird to think about how accustomed I've become to hearing Japanese that this inspired such a different reaction to it. Not recognising a single sound and having to read every line of text in order to follow what was happening was honestly quite jarring to me.

Not understanding is one thing, but because of this at times it was difficult to recognise the nuances of conversation. Of course when someone was shouting or particularly sad or jokey it was clear, but any time there was a subtle emotion conveyed in a spoken line it was completely lost on me, as I had only the text to go off and am not experienced enough with the language to recognise things like that.

To make matters worse, there are plenty of translation errors throughout the game, which I can't put too much fault on the devs for as it's clear this was no mega-budget production, but unfortunately it did make it harder to pick up on the true meaning of things at some points, leaving me to just assume how something was meant.
And even worse still, some of the subtitles would run really long, even over the gameplay or during combat, so it was a struggle to read the entire thing before it left the screen. This was at its worst in the late-game when big lore dumps would happen and even if I read the whole thing in time I'd need to read it back over to make sense of it :(

With all that said though, for whatever reason I was surprised to find this game to include as much comedy as it did, and it was kinda cool seeing similar comedic beats being hit as you might expect to find in a Western or a Japanese game. Obviously I know China isn't another world or anything, but for how unfamiliar the language felt it was a small comfort to have the familiar jokes and bonds. I s'pose they maybe helped me recognise the tone in related scenes as wellπŸ€”

Anyway I've rambled enough, final small point is I did experience some frame drops in the equipment menu of all places, even running on a Ryzen 7 and a GTX 3080Ti, thankfully I'm not a stickler for that but if you are then you've been warned :p

Otherwise there's not much else to say, this was surprisingly really enjoyable and I'm super glad I gave it a try! Solid little ARPG with a cool world and story, great music, fun combat, and it was only around 20 hours. Definitely recommend if any part of it appeals to you, I'd love to see more of this series over here in the future πŸ™

Thanks for reading to everyone that did, hope you're having a wonderful July!

P.S. I am aware that there's a mod on nexus that supposedly fixes the translation errors, but I only learned of this 2/3rds inso I didn't use it. Might be worth a look!
