Feels like a messy filler arc focused on set pieces over substance.

I couldn't be bothered to finish, it makes shitty and boring side content basically mandatory to level up, the story sucks compared to the original and Yuffie sucks. Any excitement for this story that I had was completely drained away.

What if the average Mario story of Bowser kidnapping Peach was told in the form of an RPG? Well there's now more notable characters than the traditional platforming Mario games have but ultimately it felt like it was a game that played it safe. The story doesn't get as crazy as the next game in the series The Thousand Year Door and a lot of SNES era RPGs had greater stories too. Gameplay wise this game was a little unique but some ideas were borrowed from Mario RPG which had a better cast, story, and mechanics. Overall this is just an alright RPG.

Final Fantasy 16 truly was a phenomenal game from start to finish. The game immediately grabbed me in the beginning as I played the demo, and I was hooked for the long journey this game took me on. The game's narrative isn't super complex or groundbreaking, but it still serves the game very well. The true strong point of this game's writing has to be its characters; The characters have such a strong start in the story, and seeing how they develop throughout made this one of my favorite casts by far.

This game has such an awesome action combat system, and the boss fights are so fucking epic. They mix cinematics into the combat flawlessly and it makes for such an awesome experience in this game. The only complaint i have here is that I wish the party members were more involved in combat, something slightly similar to Kingdom Hearts' party system would have been nice. Again, I'd just like to make a big note about this game and its boss fights because they are so memorable and executed so well. The cinematics behind some of the more intense story bosses are just so beautiful and awesome that I truly believe no other game comes close to what I experienced in this title.

Onto the more negative points of this game is some of the MMO-styling of the Open world. There are a lot of side quests that are fetch quests or are just plain annoying. There are also a lot of side quests that build up certain characters and ones that are just really great. It's a bit of a mixed bag with the games sidequests and I think everyone should be aware of that. I would also like to note that this game has an awful traversal system lol. Thankfully you get a chocobo later in the game but Clive is definitely a slower runner than he needs to be. There is also some unfortunately paced moments in the story that can be pretty hard to get through, but I'm glad to report that they were worth it.

Overall, this game is really amazing despite some of the off-putting parts throughout it. The characters are stellar, the combat is peak, and it's just an all-around gorgeous game. Also I should mention that the music is a complete banger.

So far this game kinda sucks donkey balls. The pacing and combat are god-awful trash. The story feels incredibly pointless and completely misguided. The only thing good about this game is that the characters are cool and some of the set pieces are pretty cool too. I'm not excited to play more when I get around to it.

I have forced myself to finish this game so I can properly warn everybody.

The graphics and music are good, and the gameplay itself it´s kind of fun but a little bit too repetitive, full of minigames that are hit or miss. But every good thing this game does it´s ruined by the plot and the writing.

It´s overly convoluted and doesn´t understand the appeal of the OG game. If you didn´t like the whispers before get ready for something 1000 times worse. They ruin some of the most iconic moments in gaming history.

The writing is even worse than in part one, everyone reverted to being oversimplified versions of themselves. Childish, overacted, and annoying, they are no longer the characters we used to love, especially Sephiroth. He is basically Ansen, appears out of nowhere says something cryptic, and leaves. The character is completely ruined.

Stay away from this game if you have any respect or love for the OG and good storytelling in general.

it's ok but it tries too hard to be drakengard 1

This game is a Rebirth in the way that Buddhists believe you will be reborn as a hungry ghost with an enormous stomach and a tiny mouth as a punishment for leading a life consumed by greed and spite

Mostly done with Chapter 4.

- Chadley sucks, and his entrance into the game makes the overworld actively less fun to explore. There's no discovery when this dip child is marking everything on your map, it's a list-making. And he interrupts constantly. Take the Sheikah slate from the past two Zelda games and give it Navi's patronizing attitude, and you've got Chadley.

- I'd forgotten what showstoppers the boss fights in these games are.

- It may be they're just condensing or remixing iconic moments from the original to keep it fresh, but the whole 'Sephiroth saves Cloud by spearing the Midgar Zolom,' in combination with how callous Coud is immediately after--not caring about the robed guy who falls--has some big time-space paradox vibes, like the Sephiroth we're following and the one from the original are the same entity acting across multiple timelines. Or else Cloud's got a bigger heel turn in the wing.

- The detour with Barrett and Red in the mines is so much padding. They couldn't have at least included some character-building dialogue to make it worthwhile? At least the boss rocks.

making your sequel be a crib of ubisoft big ass boring open world design instead of a yakuza game with tight focus like the last one is definitely a choice (i.e., not a very good one)
