Perfectly adequate DMC/GoW clone that I’ve wanted to play for years since I’m a big fan of the character. Sure it’s a movie tie in and a 2007 ps2 game but I had a pretty decent time with it and since it’s the only solo ghost rider game on console I’m grateful it’s not horrible.

The gameplay is divided into two sections: hack and slash gameplay and motorcycle sections.
The character action parts are just the player going room to room beating up waves of enemies or bosses to unlock the next door to progress. You start with a few basic combos but can upgrade your abilities with the souls you collect from slain enemies. You’ll be able to unlock new strings as well as buff moves you already have. The upgrades are pretty cool and mixing and matching different moves keeps your style meter up to maximize your end of level score. There are ground pounds, chain swings and a shotgun to help crowd control. You also have a block move and a roll to use as your defensive options. There aren’t a ton of different type of enemies and most enemies have only one or two moves but on higher difficulty you definitely have to use a good variety of your tools to survive and not simply button mash although as I got further in the game I realized you “devil trigger” was a bit OP and recharged a bit too quickly and could be abused a little.
Aside from the combat there’s absolutely nothing else to these levels. No platforming (the jump button is solely there for aerial attacks and juggles), no puzzles, no key items, no collectibles and the environments are pretty good graphically for a ps2 game but artistically bland and forgettable.
The motor cycle sections are there instead to break up the pacing and they’re ehhh ok. Not horrible. The physics are a little janky but they’re short and don’t overstay their welcome. Even if gameplay wise they’re a little bland it’s bad ass to slide your flaming hellcycle under an obstacle and then wheelie off a jump over a chasm in slow-mo. Unfortunately a couple bosses are wasted on dumb vehicular combat but the few bosses you fight in the regular combat sections are competent enough.

This game isn’t amazing by any means and I wish there were CG cutscenes instead of comic panels voiced over but playing a passable ghost rider game was really fun for me and the unlockable cheats and characters (including Blade with a whole different move set) makes me almost want to play it again…almost.

I’m a really big fan of the first game but for some reason I never got around to playing this sequel until just now and it was solid but flawed.
I knew when the first action I did in the game was turn to check out a waistress’ tits to learn how to control the camera I was in for a good time. This game ditches the dark and serious broodiness of the first in exchange for a more over the top and comedic tone. The cell shaded art style and color pallete enhances this decision with the bright red blood really popping everytime you disemember an enemy. It’s clear a ton of effort went into the script for this game with tons of dialogue with various characters that are all fleshed out pretty well and given their own personalities. The story comes pretty natural from where the first game left off. There’s a lot of comedy and one liners here but still maintains an emotional hook through the game and the relationship between Jenny and Jackie is believable.
The gameplay is similar to the first but more streamlined with the open areas and side missions removed now in favor of more linear levels which I don’t hate but it always felt like I was spending more time in dialogue, dream sequences and cutscenes than plowing through enemies.
The shooting feels great and feedback is very responsive. Your darkness powers are what separate this from an average shooter and they really shine here with your abilities to slash enemies vertically or horizontally. You can also pick up many objects in the levels and use them as shields or hurl them at enemies to impale them or slice them in half. You’ll also be able to grab stunned enemies and perform executions and depending what execution you do you’ll get back ammo, health, shields, etc which is a mechanic I really enjoy. The more violently you play the higher your score gets and then in turn these score points can be used to buy upgrades and new moves at checkpoints. Including a new game plus to unlock all the abilities is a nice touch too.
The other main gimmick in this game like the predecessor is staying out of the light as you can’t use your powers in light. You’ll neee to shoot them out or avoid them. This game has some annoying ass enemies that shine flashlights at you and throw blinding flash grenades. It makes sense in the story but these enemies are never much fun to fight since the only real tool you have to stop them is shooting their flashlight out which can be a pain while you’re swarmed with other enemies and can’t use any of your powers.
The game is too short too clocking in at around 5 hours including all the optional dialogue and cutscenes. I really felt like I was only in the action for 2-3 hours and kept getting frustrated as it would end so briefly and go back to story moments.

All in all the gameplay is extremely satisfying outside some annoying enemies and some frustration with the pacing. There’s a couple sections you play as your darkling sidekick which are pseudo stealth sections that are awful but very brief and there’s an on rails section that’s also brief but equally as pointless.

I wish this game played more to its strength and gave me more time eviscerating enemies because that’s really what you’re there for. This game is really fun when you actually get to play but there’s just too much holding it back from being great.

It had been well over a decade since I played this game. I had strong nostalgia for this one. I remember seeing the trailers on tv as a kid being so awestruck by the graphics and thinking it looked like the coolest game ever. I know I enjoyed it a ton when it came out and remember general plot points and gameplay but DAMN going back all this years later: this game kinda blows and it’s one of the most needlessly frustrating games I’ve ever played.

There’s no real gameplay loop to be had here. You’re either in third person shooter combat or piloting various mechs that all control somewhat differently but have different movement abilities and durability.
The only unique mechanic is since you’re in the freezing cold you’ll need to constantly be picking up thermal energy from checkpoints, killed enemies or destructible objects in the environment. If you run out of energy you freeze to death and it’s game over. It’s an interesting enough idea but I found there’s always a surplus of it as long as you’re killing everything and not taking too much damage so it didn’t really impact the gameplay too much or make me feel rushed.
Enemies are either various sized alien Kaiju, humans with guns or other mechs. Fighting the monsters is ok as there’s some strategy to hit their weak points and avoid their massive ground shaking attacks but fighting human enemies is dull garbage and the mech fights are clunky and not fun either.
There’s not much strategy to this game except run in circles and keep shooting. You have a grappling hook but it’s very slow and not practical to use in combat usually and you’re very limited in the areas you can access with it. You can also jump but that’s not helpful for the most part. There’s a dodge roll but it’s very clunky and requires you to click the left stick in a direction as you press the A button and just never felt smooth or useful.
It’s insanely frustrating that almost every attack from every enemy hard knocks you down and you take forever to get back up. If you’re surrounded by enough enemies you’ll get looped endlessly as there’s no way to get up quickly or roll out of danger. You’re jump also can’t really avoid explosions from rocket launchers or monster projectiles.
The shooting itself uses a strong lock on system and feels ok but again any time you’re fighting anything but the Akrid the game blows.
The game is still very visually impressive and holds up well and the scope of some of the more open snow covered areas is impressive. The scale of some of the monsters is also impressive too and the ground shaking making you stumble is a nice touch but in a game that is already painfully slow it just ads even more frustration as Wayne stumbles around everywhere and slowly picks himself up off the ground. I guess it’s supposed to be immersive but it just results in the game being totally unfun to play. I wanted to finish it but I tapped out with a mission or 2 left. I should have just kept the fond memories from my childhood but now I have a bad taste in my mouth and don’t think I’ll revisit this one ever again.

Not going to put too much effort into this review. Despite its about 5 hour campaign this slog exhausted me.

This game doesn’t really know what it wants to be. It’s set up to be a stealthy and methodical cover shooter using your silenced weapon, melee takedown and holograms to distract enemies. The problem is none of this comes together because the stealth is totally half-baked. Enemy sight lines are totally inconsistent and it becomes frustrating guessing if they’ll see you. There’s also not much incentive to play stealthy since it’s slow, janky and boring and it’s much easier to run and gun through each mission.
The problem then becomes run and gunning sucks too because every animation is sooo slow and if you accidentally cycle to switch to the incorrect weapon you have to sit through the laughably slow animation with no way to cancel. The guns are pretty standard and the shooting is fine but the game clearly doesnt want you to play fast paced. The grenade throwing animation is also painfully slow and jank. Also they couldn’t update to a weapon wheel or tighten up any of these animations in a remaster??
There are some good ideas with a turret you can put down to distract foes so you can flank but the AI is mostly retarded (they will see their comrade 2 feet in front of them get sniped and not react or won’t run away from grenades.)
The gameplay just feels like it’s being pulled in two directions with neither of them being fully developed which leaves the player in a weird middle ground that’s just mind numbing and unfun. Combine that with several extended horrible turret sections and the game just really doesn’t excel at anything.
The last thing I’ll touch on is the crafting which is broken. You get salvage from every enemy killed and the rest are marked on your mini map so you end up with an excessive amount to craft basically infinite medpacks and ammo so you can cheese your way through the game soaking up tons of damage. Unfortunately this is how I played the last couple hours because trying to play slow and methodically just didn’t work and was boring me to death.

I wanted to like this game and the goofy comic book adaptation has some charm but sadly I can’t recommend this unless you’re super curious or a fan of the comics. It’s just barely passable.

DISCLAIMER before I gush about this game:
This game has maybe the worst voice acting I’ve heard in a game since the original Resident Evil, the script is bizarre with more focus on weird character moments than the plot, the combat isn’t super deep, there aren’t endless unlockable weapons and combos, it’s extremely linear with no platforming or exploration, and the game is pretty short at around 6 hours for a first playthrough.

Now with all of that out of the way: I adore this game and it’s disappointing seeing so many mainstream critics seemingly not even give this a chance. This is especially difficult when the industry is in desperate need of more throwback action games like this.

This game meshes pretty standard third person cover shooting systems seamlessly with visceral melee combat. You are armed with a katana to parry enemies, slash and block. You also have an assault rifle at all times which you can customize with various attachments as you progress. You’re secondary weapon is whatever you pick up from slain enemies and can range from shotguns, LMGs, grenade launchers to rocket launchers. Your third gun is your sidearm that you also have at all times but it operates with a face button you tap to fire a quick shot to stagger enemies, keep your combo going or break enemy charge attacks. A few rare occasions will also let you go to work with a huge chainsaw.

As you progress you’ll unlock various abilities that keep the gameplay fresh like a charge attack, slide attack, grenades and even bullet time. None of these are super deep and I kinda wish there were a few more combos or juggles but everything is fluid and useful.

The biggest draw to the combat is the stylish finishing moves that are usually jiu jitsui take downs. It’s all awesomely gory gun-fu and this is the closest thing we have so far to a John Wick video game.

Gameplay pretty much consists of pushing forward killing enemies room by room till you reach the next checkpoint or end of level boss. The enemies range from different knife wielding enemies, synthetics, gunners, ninjas and large foes in mech suits. It’s not a ton of variety but there’s just enough and enough remixed combinations of enemies to keep you on your toes. The first boss fight is meh but I thought all the others were really good.

This is a weird game that leans into its quirkiness with several mini games to break up all the combat. These include karaoke, ramen eating, an arcade cabinet and a gun range similar to RE4’s. They’re all nice distractions and are accessible at all times to go back and try to beat your previous score. There are also training levels that are scored and new game plus with additional difficulties to give some replay value and make up for the relatively short length of the campaign.
The story isn’t fleshed out much at all but there are a ton of revelations and plot threads left dangling in the last few minutes of the game so I really pray this game can find a cult following and a way to get a sequel made.
This game may not be the most polished and definitely isn’t to everyone’s taste but fans of 6th gen character action games should definitely give this a shot. The difficulty is pretty high on normal but I’m really looking forward to playing again on hard and Japanese hard. This is my sleeper hit of the year so far.

Kane and Lynch are back and this time the game is MUCH better. This game is what I was hoping the first one that I reviewed a couple weeks ago was going to be and I can understand this game’s cult following now.

Everything has been improved this time around. The shooting feels much better with all the different guns feeling very different with more realistic bullet spread and recoil.
The developers added a button toggle to the cover system that makes it much more fluid and gives you the ability to swap cover and push out from cover to sprint into the next advanced postion.
The level design is also improved with tighter areas that enhance the game’s strength with tons of cover and lanes that facilitate flanking nicely while you play co-op.

The biggest improvement tho overall is the bat shit insane story and the presentation. The shaky cam might not be for everything but I thought it really enhanced the game and made it more vicseral. The whole game felt dirty and nasty like I was the camera man for a snuff film following these two psychos on their rampage through the neon backdrop of Shanghai. I love how violent this game and all the camera work, neon lights and blurred censoring of the most violent parts gives it an incredibly fresh and unique aesthetic that the first one was missing.

The game is short and wraps up at the perfect time with no major dips in quality. My biggest negatives are I encountered several severe audio glitches and had the game crash twice. The gameplay is nothing special but it’s a solid cover shooter enhanced by its amazing paint job. It doesn’t do anything new or redefine the genre in anyway but it’s easy to recommend to anyone especially if they can play with a buddy in a single sitting.
6/10

Another hit from Shinji Mikami. While this definitely isn’t his magnum opus it stands close to the top of the third person shooter genre.

I’m not a huge cover shooter fan as I find them too slow paced, dull moment to moment gameplay sitting behind cover waiting for health to recharge, and problems with the gunplay. This game definitely alleviates those complaints with the slow mo and sliding mechanics that make the game much more fast paced that a traditional cover shooter and lets you adapt your tactics on the fly. There’s no “right way” to play this game because each situation the game presents you with will have you making constant decisions on the fly either taking cover or pressing out into the open to slide behind enemies or to better tactical positions.
The gameplay stays fresh for the brisk 4 hours it took me to beat this and there are just enough guns and just enough enemy types/bosses for the player to stay engaged. This is definitely a game meant to be played multiple times as there’s definitely a bit of a learning curve at the beginning but once you get the hang of the mechanics you’ll want to come back because the gameplay is extremely satisfying as you get better at it.

My main complaints with this one are all pretty minor.
A wish there were a few less cutscenes and first person walking sections which are really just cutscenes. They make the pacing a bit choppy especially with how short some checkpoints are.

I also wish the game let you manage your cool down when your health hits critical. I get that it’s supposed to be punishing but I think the risk reward of letting the player manage the cooldown themselves instead of it automatically also going into overheat can be frustrating.
Lastly I wish the upgrade system was different. As you upgrade weapons in your inventory you’ll also lose upgrades upon death which is very punishing. I wish the game found a way to reward you for not dying vs punishing you for dying.

Oh and the most minor of my gripes is I wish each chapter gave you a letter score just because I have no idea how my scores for each mission stack up.

I’ll definitely be coming back to this one on a harder difficulty and compete against myself to set new high scores and maybe try a no death run.

Really wish this had become a franchise because the story although over the top and a bit cliche was pretty fun and the unresolved plot lines would have been cool to see fleshed out in a sequel. Sam kicks ass

8/10

A worthy but frustrating sequel.

This one really feels like 2 steps forward and a step backwards.

I’ll start off the top saying if you hated the third act of the first game with the reveal of supernatural elements then probably avoid this as this one doubles down on the cult, superpowers, and blurs the line between reality and hallucinations.

The biggest upgrade in this one is the detective aspects of the game which I criticized in the first game as being undercooked and hand holdy. In this one you can actually make mistakes when investigating crime scenes and the player will actually have to select the right forensic tool to use as they go through a crime scene. Your contact Rosa will prompt you to ask and answer questions which will net you a higher score based on choosing the best answer. There’s a lot more agency here and the use of the tools are also expanded upon as you can use them to track, destroy and photograph side objectives within each level.

The simplictic first person combat of the original has also been expanded upon with now having a combo meter, being able to use your fists, being able to reload and holster firearms, a dash attack, and the ability to throw your weapon at enemies or targets.
The combo meter is a little jarring at first but overall it grew on me. The environmental take downs are awesome and gory.
The shooting hasn’t been improved tho which is disappointing because it’s much more prominent here although the mechanic of Ethan being an alcoholic and needing to drink to steady his aim is pretty cool.

There are more memorable locales in this game with the standouts being a museum, a doll factory and a bowling alley with area specific weapons like broadswords and bowling balls.

This game hits lower lows than the original however. The first mission drags on forever and the black tar monsters are totally miserable to fight especially with the black tar environments they spawn in. There’s several levels with these horrible filters and screen effects than made me nauseous and were a slog to get though. These really brought this title down for me because the screen effects were just so horrible. Luckily it was only 2-3 levels like that in the game and pretty much everything else is quite good.

This one is harder to recommend to someone because of the comically over the top edginess, insane story and couple of really ugly borderline unplayable levels. Overall I think I still prefer the first game but this one is a ton of fun and doesn’t nearly deserve the hate it gets. Sad Monolith didn’t get to finish out this as a trilogy.

7/10

Really only played this game to be able to be able to play the sequel which I’ve heard mixed things on. I hardly see any discourse about this first entry and I can see why…

There’s really not much to say here. This is about as cookie cutter a third person shooter that exists. If anything it’s below average.

The shooting never feels great. Can’t really tell if you’re hitting anything especially on some later levels with enemies far away obscured in windows and pitch darkness. The strongest gun fights are in the bank and night club levels earlier in the game.

The cover system is also jank. There’s no dedicated button to get on cover which was a big mistake. You’re constantly fighting to get on the contextual cover of objects like pillars and walls that are very clearly meant to be cover but for some reason Kane won’t get on the wall. It was extremely unreliable and frustrating for the entirety of the 4 hours I wasted playing this.

The only saving Grace for this game was the narrative which was solid and the characters, especially Lynch were amusing bantering back and forth. The absurdity of it all was fun but really couldn’t make up for the lack of any depth or fun in the gameplay.

Even co-op I can’t recommend this as there are much better co-op cover based third person shooters out there.

4/10

Monolith was really in their bag back in 2005. Between this and FEAR they released two of the best horror games on the Xbox 360. Although this is definitely the weaker of the two it’s a great launch title and it’s amazing how well it holds up today. Sometimes less is indeed more.

The biggest pro of this game is how incredibly immersive it is. The first person perspective is actually perfect for this game and the environments and lighting still look shockingly good today in 2023. The atmosphere is top notch all the way through with no weak points. You make your way through abandoned buildings, back alleys, a library and of course the stand out abandoned department store. Every single area is oppressively dark and grimy with each one feeling like it was once lived it before it went to shit.

The sound design also elevates the game with some incredible surround sound work where you’re constantly looking over your shoulder hearing footsteps surround you and cans and other debris roll across the ground. Murderous addicts mumbling to themselves and panting as they try to get the drop on you never stops being eerie giving high levels of tension as your character SLOWLY explores the environment.

The level design is linear with just enough exploring to keep it fresh. You can find collectibles, secret rooms and staches of health or guns to give you the upper hand.

The main gameplay loop is the brutal 1st person melee combat which is very simple but always feels meaty and deliberate. Everything in the environment can be used as a weapon with each having unique stats. Large items like desk tops and locker doors are slow but deal more damage and block more effectively. Smaller items like pipes and 2x4s swing quicker. You’re also equipped with a taser that recharges. This is a great tool for crowd control. It never stops being fun tasing a maniac and then grabbing his fire arm while he’s stunned and then blowing him away with it.
The AI is excellent as well as they will retreat when they are disarmed and seek out items in the environment to wield. They will also retreat when you get the upper hand and hide behind corners or pillars to get the jump on you. They will also fake like they are swinging to throw off your block timing. Really good stuff even if it’s simple it’s always satisfying. I’m glad the game doesn’t get too deep and bogged down in extra mechanics.

Last thing to touch on is the detective aspect of the game. All in all it’s pretty weak as it holds your hand for the most part. The correct forensic tool will be auto selected for you and there’s no real agency or way to mess up. There’s a few sections that you have to follow clues or trails with a UV light that are pretty good but overall the detective sections are bare bones and a missed opportunity albeit being nice at breaking up the pacing of the combat and making you feel pretty immersed.

I definitely love the simplicity of this game and the dark grungy atmosphere much like the movie se7en hunting down serial killers even if the plot kinda jumps the shark in the 3rd act. The gameplay is straightforward but fun and it wraps up at the perfect time just under 7 hours.

I’m disgusted and I’m not talking about the gore. I feel disgusted I paid $5 to play this. I thought I had reached the bottom of the barrel for console FPS games last week when I reviewed the pathetic Blacksite: Area 51 but somehow this is worse. The gore and dismemberement is pretty good but the appeal wears off after about 5 minutes. How can I game this gory be so boring?
Definitely a budget title but still inexcusably lazy. Horrible voice acting, boring and convoluted story (they thought they were getting a sequel? Lol). The graphics are mid af with some horrible textures and everything 20 yards out pops in as you approach it. Tons of audio and frame rate glitches as well. The music is stock and all the menus just scream “budget title”

The shooting is mid. All the guns feel exactly the same and there’s no real kick or recoil to anything. You can shoot the magnum like a laser. The animation of the gun kicks but the reticle doesn’t move at all. On top of this the controls are unresponsive as sometimes you can’t reload cancel or have to hit the button to swap weapons 2-3 to get it to work. And of course this game is dull regenerating Health with no gimmick or strategy to it.

The game is just walk forward shooting guys and some brief escort missions. It’s all horrible but nothing is as bad as these boss fights. Good lord! Just regular dudes that are bosses so therefore they are bullet sponges because video game I guess?

Really glad this only lasted 3 hours because I couldn’t take a second more of it. Putrid stuff. I will never touch this one again.

This review contains spoilers

What’s there to say about this game that hasn’t already been said? This was about my 10th time coming back to this game and it’s an absolute joy. Instead of ranting repetetively about the infamous AI, the sweet guns, the slow mo, gore, and awesome particle effects I’ll address some of the nitpicks I’ve seen about the game.

Yes majority of the game takes place in an office building but the level design within the building feels real and does such a good job of facilitating the AI. It’s not the sexiest environment or the most original but there’s tons of atmosphere to go around. I think people also forget there are several other areas at the docks, rooftops, city streets, an abandoned hotel and the underground lab at the end. Again none of these are original but there’s more variety than people would lead you to believe.

Another complaint I see is the scripted horror sections suck. While they definitely don’t hit the same after a couple play throughs the first time through I found them to be very effective. Even now I still enjoy them as they help pace the game nicely between the light platforming puzzles and combat. There isn’t a single moment where the atmosphere falls off.

Finally I see people talk about how the ghost like enemies suck especially when they are the only enemy in the last chapters….I don’t have a rebuttal for that. They’re annoying and not nearly as fun to fight as the replica soldiers but luckily they only appear a couple times and heavily in the last 5 minutes.

I love everything about this game despite its minor flaws it still holds up extremely well and to this day has some of the best fps combat of all time. It’s a shame the rest of the franchise fell off after this (the sequels suck but the DLCs for this one are worth playing) but at least I’ll always have this to come back to.
10/10

I remember vaguely playing this game in my childhood because it was one of the few Teen rated FPS I could get my hands on.

Got it for $5 the other day and replayed for the first time in well over a decade and man…

I don’t want to say this is the worst FPS I’ve ever played but I’m having a hard time thinking of one worse. When there was a turret section about 3 minutes into the game I knew I was in for a doozy. It’s beyond generic. 2 weapon limit. I think there are maybe 5 or 6 guns in the entire game and I basically used the AR the entire time. Lame regenerating Health which I’m never a fan of.

All of the levels are bland with washed out filters and 3/4 of the game take place in the same desert environments. There are maybe 5 enemy types and in a game about aliens you sure spend most of your time shooting copy paste soldier enemies.

The story is lame. Voice acting sucks. Only redeeming quality is the shooting itself feels ok.

There’s no gimmick to this game at all just the most bland Fps you can imagine. There’s a squad mechanic but it’s bare bones as they can basically only open doors for you and get on turrets. The game constantly tells if squad morale is low or high but as far as I can tell it changes nothing.

Avoid at all costs unless you want a last. At least it’s short (4 hours) but this is really scraping the bottom of the barrell.

Big missed opportunity here. You would think a game meant to be up to 4 player co op would operate with a smoother frame rate but this game progressively gets worse and turns into a slide show. Even on single player it’s unacceptable. I don’t really get it since this is an Xbox exclusive how it’s so bad but it forced me to abandon this one about 3/4 of the way through.

Frame rate aside the game is fine. There isn’t quite as much strategy as you’d think as you get run n gun through most of the levels. Enemy variety is pretty standard and plays like every other third person shooter.

Each characters unique stats, abilities, and guns they’re able to use elevate the game a bit but a lot of it feels underwhelming. The shooting is fine and there’s a decent amount of pretty good guns but that’s about it.
The gameplay would have benefit from more depth and characters having a dodge/roll instead of a jump that basically isn’t used for anything.

Levels are pretty ugly and repetitive as you go back to the same 3 worlds about 5 times each.

Overall even without the terrible optimization the game would have been mid but would be decent enough to play with a friend. Unfortunately I can’t recommend this one.

What a massive disappointment. I had this game on my wishlist for years and finally got a copy and started playing last week….I really wanted to like this game but it’s just a slog.

The positives are the punisher is cool as fuck, lots of cheesey action movie one-liners and the game pulls no punches with the gore and M rating. The selection of guns and upgrades are pretty decent and the challenge modes and medals along with being able to pick your load outs gives the game some replay value. The shooting is decent and the rage mode is fun. The interrogations especially all the environmental ones are creative and there’s a shocking amount but here’s where the problems begin…

Why am I penalized for killing a guy after I get information from him then use whatever torture method to kill him? But if I extract info from him then just shoot him in the face my score goes up? Also why the black and white filter when one of these kills are done but not other ones like when I put a dudes face in a bear trap?

The boss fights are some of the worst ever with bullet sponge enemies that run away from you in maze like environments especially on the hard difficulty. Healing isn’t practical because you have to interrogate an enemy to heal so I’d find myself grabbing a goon and walking away with them to interrogate them then go back to shooting the boss. The stick mini game when interrogating was also very janky sometimes and took a lot of the fun out of what should have been some over the tops moments.

I can’t stress how putrid the boss fights are.

My last complaint is why no bullet time? Was the game too afraid of being a max Payne clone? It should have embraced it because the diving shooting just isn’t nearly as fun.

Really bummed by this. Maybe I’ll pick it up again at some point but I can’t recommend this one.
