Where it all started. Although this game pales in comparison to the PSP release (Dawn of Souls) but the charm is most certainly there. Reliving this in this natrual pixel envrioment with touch ups and vibrant colours is quite a joy to behold. This is where it all started, a band of 4 heroes chosen by the crystals as warriors of light to save the world. It really is as simple as that.

What makes these games much more palattable is the boosts options, I chose not use them until the second half of the game, but using them before hand is nothing to be ashamed of and really helps streamline your way to the finish.

The trophies are simple and rewarding.

Truely a classic experience.

Being both a big Final Fantasy fan and a Souls fan, I could never really get into the Nioh games as much for some reason.

However, this game seemed to bring a whole new take to it for me, despite its graphical flaws and somewhat janky loot system.

This game is incredibly fun to play, again this is something that could be further improved on down the line. You cannot deny this game has a large amount of charm, even in its somewhat unorthadox story telling.

One of the biggest fun factors in this game is the wide array of jobs you can choose, this adds such an interesting dynamic to the whole game giving you lots of freedom to play and fight bosses just how you want to. Not only that the game has an insane amount of depth for builds and all sorts of crazy damage outputting.

I really enjoyed my playthrough start to finish to see where this journey ends and just recently picked up the DLC as it was a reduced price.

Going back in almost a year later, I still felt that same amount of fun as the first time, if not more that I went and finished up getting the platinum trophy for it. There had even been many improvements made to the game such as a glamour system and ablity to change your appearance to one of the other playable characters.

Wasn't sure if this game was my bag, but it was a recommended game to play by the Sony CEO Shuhei Yoshida, and also to get his Playstation Stars model, so I thought why not, let's see the kind of game this man would pick.

Well, turns out he has very good taste! This slower paced game was a welcome change for me, the mild combat system evoked a simplisic approach akin to a game like Undertale.

The story is moving, the pixel art is glorious. A true work of art the visuals and consistency are a sight to behold, monster and character designs are just flawless and bring the world to life.

I highly recommend this game if you are looking for a change, or perhaps to pick up a somewhat easier platinum trophy without much pressure.

In the end it actually leaves you yearning for a little bit more from a similar game, I can see a lot of potential for a future with a game of this style adding improvements herea and there.
