Honestly, pretty good. You can tell the system where it came from based on the limited animations and the amount you could put on screen at once. You can even tell the Kingdom Hearts DNA in the game. Not that that's a bad thing, of course.
The story itself is pretty marvelous. Zack stands out as a great protagonist since most of his reactions to what's going on around him feels incredibly human, which is vital in the world of FF7. It fleshes out the greater story and really makes the romance of Zack and Aerith quite believable, albeit a short lived one.
Sephiroth is also a stand out in his game, as this is the first of a few times where he isn't depicted as completely insane. I'm grateful that Ever Crisis is going to go into more of Sephiroth as a character, because what I've seen here is pretty stellar.
I will say that as a negative, it tied too many things together. Like Zack knowing Yuffie, or naming Seventh Heaven. There's a lot of characters that didn't need to be tangentially tied into the prequel. But that's a problem with prequels in general, rather than this specific story.
If you're a fan of FF7, you probably already own this game. As an outsider to the series, I'm not sure if this is the best place to start. It's too late for me to really see if that's the way to go about things, since I played FF7 at initial release. But it's definitely a good action RPG, and that's all it really needs to be.

This was like Scott Pilgrim with more self awareness. I'm quite a fan of how this was handled, not to mention it gave me a better perspective on life itself. I will say, it sucks that you lose MP even when you whiff an attack, but other than that, I really don't have any major complaints. If you're looking for an off the beaten path RPG in the indie scene, check this out.

An incredible love letter to Kiryu's story. The combat makes you feel possibly the most powerful you've ever felt as Kiryu. The story is fantastic, the characters are very well written, and a lot of what's been set up in previous games pays off, and pays off well. The one negative I have is that the substories, save for a few are kinda meh.
The world will never forget Kiryu Kazuma, the Dragon of Dojima.

I bought this game because it was goofy and it has the Nostalgia Critic in it, and that in itself is funny. But it kept me going from the intricate fighting system that encourages combo stacking and air juggles. That and the Nostalgia Critic being in the game is great. They actually made him a solid fighter.
Definitely a overlooked beat 'em up, you should play it, I'm so glad this game led to Streets of Rage 4.
It does get a point off because there's no Evil Nostalgia Critic skin.

This is the direction Mario needs to be taken in for the future. More off the wall concepts, more characters, more eye catching platformers, more rhythm based stages. And especially, let Mario keep that fucking grappling hook.
There's so many things that could have sucked so easily and it's amazing that they didn't fuck it up. Like the talking flowers. Their lines aren't annoying. And the the Dark Souls like online, it's useful, and really helpful for nailing precision platforming. The big N really knocked it out of the park. Easily top notch game, cannot recommend it enough. If you've ever liked Mario, you're gonna love Mario Wonder.

There's a lot I like about this game! It's fun, it's fast moving, it feels good to play, it's genuine fun. And I can definitely see this being someone's first Sonic game. It's a real good one.
But for the bad, since people love to dunk on Sonic. I don't think there should ever be a reason for a 1 Act Zone. I think some characters' specific acts should've been thrown in for padding, because there's a lot of cool zone concept ideas that just get left on the table because 1 Act.
The other is that the bosses follow too much of a pattern to pad out the time. I'd rather be able to exploit the bosses by hitting them 6 times in rapid succession because I got the right angle. Waiting for them to be in a vulnerable state can really slow things down and practically double the time it took me to complete the act.
But despite these two issues I have with the game, they aren't dealbreakers. I can definitely see myself coming back to this game and playing it every now and again like I have with Sonic Mania and Sonic Generations.
PS- GG to Sonic Team for twice in a row making new characters that I really enjoy. Trip's awesome!
