"We don't know how to make it not feel like a Poor Man's Quake so just make it super flashy and it'll be good!"

they all got convinced that hitscanners were an unforgivable evil and you end up with these games where if you just stand 10 feet away from the bad guy you're basically untouchable. no idea at all why any design choices were made, pure cargo cult design

I can't believe you said the game made something too easy and right after someone said, "Skill issue".

I made up the term zoomer shooter as a joke, but broadly I would say that there are a lot of games that have formed around the idea of the 90s FPS that aren't actually anything like a 90s FPS, which isn't necessarily bad. But in this case seeing a game that really wants to trade on retro cred and then it's basically shitty doom 2016 is really funny

Ah, ok that makes sense

I'm pretty sure zoomer shooter is just any shooter I'd define as a descendant of Serious Sam. Fast, arcade-y and retro-styled but not actually akin to classic shooters more methodical explorative gameplay. So yeah, like Doom 2016.

If you want a good game with hitscan enemies you should play Fortune's Run
