here’s the list of all the stuff i played this year

really in place for the whole kill the past continuity. those games permanently rewired my brain and i couldnt be happier. 25th ward is my favorite of the bunch; love every character and the presentation & music are just so me. taps into the illusions of perfection and the corrupt horrors that lie beneath, the internet now becoming a central hub for all forms of communication and pleasure, and the value of perspective. definitely want to write a more in-depth piece about this one once i replay it.
cing are an incredible dev team that had an unfortunate downfall into bankruptcy before they could finish the plans they had in store for their respective series. regardless, hotel dusk resonated with me a whole lot, being a more “mature” narrative compared to its contemporaries on the ds. the artstyle is always what catches people and for good reason. the mystery is highly enveloped and highlights the complications everyone around us faces despite our disregard. great detective adventure game.
the apex of the foundations action games had been putting down since the dawn of the genre. proof that even with a long hiatus, game sequels can still prove to be valuable. a triumphant reinventing and celebration of the formula. kicks ass!
the sequel i had always dreamed of since i had played the original game. a semi-return to the flamboyant, edgy, exaggerated fashion and style of the 2000s. understands adolescent relationships and the connections that bind us, there’s always people who care. dazzling fixed camera work is nothing like we’ve seen before, along with the ever-hypnotizing gameplay & music combo.
what if you could play a mecha ova? an industrialized mars calls for your aid. blowing up battalions of airships, chasing trains, tragic 1-on-1s. all that i could ask for from a game of this nature. not a masterpiece or anything but it spoke to me.
