+ A lot of the sub-quests are silly and hilarious in classic Yakuza fashion
+ The mini-games. You can even play freaking Virtua Figther 5 in the arcade.
+ Ijincho really comes to life and is really fun to explore. I rarely felt like using fast travel until late in the game.
+ The pokemon-style enemy types are hilarious

- Too many pointless details in the plot. As the story progresses, more and more gets added into the mix and the explanations come through long cutscenes with nothing but awfully dull dialogues. Extremely boring.
Pro: Gameplay is addicting
Cons: Shallow characters and convoluted story.
Cons: Shallow characters and convoluted story.
I loved P4 because of the relaxed and friendly atmosphere: normal life in a seaside town, hanging out with your school friends, etc. Persona 5, on the other hand, has a more present sense of urgency to it all. It’s the kind of story where "you are the chosen one and must save the world", and, despite having the same kind of side activities, I didn't find it as enjoyable as P4, because I felt like the game was pushing me to complete the main story (even the characters often remind you that you should!). Also, it’s way too weird and anime-y for my taste.
Another con is the characters' motivations and development, which I found very predictable and uninspired. Some in the main cast even used the same archetypes as those in P4.
In short: Many good ideas but the execution isn't always the best.
- The world is well crafted and there is a fair amount of things to do.
- The combat system is original and fun enough but it relies so much on the character's level rather than on the player's own skill. It also becomes a complete mess when fighting alone against 3 or more opponents.
- I liked the attempt at realism for some of the mechanics but their implementation ranges from annoying to useless (repairing / grindstone / hunger / tiredness)
- The gameplay is a bit too janky for me, the horse controls in particular are dreadful in some situations.
- I encountered a few too many bugs, some of which forced me to reload the save.
- I liked the storyline but the way it's told not at all: the main cast is a mixture of overused medieval tropes; the dialogues are generally ok but some bits are embarassingly bad; the protagonist is simply terrible - it has to be the most bland and forgettable I've ever seen in a rpg. Immersion is almost non-existant.
