Absurdly phenomenal, and somehow manages to live up to the OG.

Not as enjoyable as I remembered, especially coming off of the wonderful remake of the first game. The storytelling, spectacle and combat are all dramatically improved over DS1, but all of that comes at the expense of horror and exploration. I would criticize the level design, but it practically does not exist. Dead Space 2 is a straight line, almost literally. There's no map, no exploration, no backtracking, no real navigation-related decisions to be made. It's a roller coaster that's less exciting the more times I ride it.

This was a game I really wanted to like when it originally released, but it never really stuck. Fast forward to the mobile release in 2022, and it finally clicked for me. Into the Breach is so elegant and masterfully designed. Truly all killer and no filler, just pure SRPG distilled down to its most chess-like essence.
