To me this game was fully open world, you could go anywhere man! Everything having about 4 polygons somehow made it cooler.

Do you think Hobbit likes video games?

I was in way over my head playing this as a kid, but it left a mark on me when I eventually got most things working. Perfection is the limit

I begged my mom for a subscription of this and then never played it. Sorry, mom.

If From Software makes another sequel to this I will hope never to wake up. Pokemon meets card game meets a fantasy action game with proto-Souls aesthetics that hit me just right as a kid. Are there pacing problems from the movement speed and random encounters? Yeah. Is there only one song that will play during every combat that you're forced to hear a hundred times across one playthrough? Yeah, and it kicks ass. Is this game unique and actually trying to do something interesting? Hell yeah

Dark Souls Prototype, inventor of genres. Today, feels very dated especially compared to newer From titles. Great level design in places, but there are maybe 2 bosses that aren't total garbage, and even those are barely more than an enemy with lots of health and maybe 3 different attacks.

If you ever need an example of a sequel the developers didn't have enough good ideas for, look no further. If you're wondering why Gex managed to get 3 games made and then disappeared, this is why. If you finished Gex 2 and really, really need some more of that Gex action, It's tail time.

Gex is the keeper of the gate between games that feel worth having played, and games that you feel a little more unique for having played. I think he's on the good game side. Maybe?

They fixed the story problem of Gen 7. That makes this what is probably the best pre switch pokemon to actually play through. Which it should be, since it's the last one. Not worth making its own separate game out of, but that's a dozen or so entries late to bring up.

The nadir of Pokemon. When they realized that they had to start doing gimmicks every generation because they couldn't make the actual games themselves interesting enough to people who had played pokemon before. Still wasn't interesting, though megas were kind of cool that's all Gen 6 had. Possibly the worst plot of a series with garbage, worse than nothing plots.

Would probably be the best pre-switch pokemon game to actually play through if it wasn't bogged down worse than ever by a truckload of exposition for a plot small children yawn at.

For a generation that is supposedly a reinvention of the series, this game sure is full of the same shit as all the rest. 5th gen includes the very worst of pokemon design, at times making exciting fire breathing monsters into demented mundanity.

Coolest game ever when it came out as a kid. Design choices limited its legacy but no other smash game has come close to having the content this game did.

1991

I always assumed there was a real game in this that wasn't the bad tetris clone and was sad I couldn't play it.

I thought this was Donkey Kong Country until I was like 15 and didn't understand the hype
