I'd honestly give this a 4.5/5 if the game didn't require an internet connection to play. It has an offline mode, but it yells at you for using it. It skipped the final cutscene after Haven Island cause my internet dropped for like a second.

I enjoy the Hitman series well enough. I've played through Blood Money, Absolution, and now the first 2 of the reboot trilogy. While Absolution was a bit of a misstep in my opinion, the rest of the games I played are extremely fun and allow for so much freedom, including options to help you progress if you're like me and suck at video games and want to experience the story.

That last bit is probably my favorite thing about these reboot games. "Mission Stories", as the game calls them, are basically little guides to help you assassinate your target that do play out like a regular mission in a video game. You'll be talking to people, following others around in that weird way of you walk faster than them which sucks if you don't know where they're going, and exchanging items. While only really required to do if you plan on completing every in-game challenge, they help you learn the layout of the maps so when you come back to replay them, you can come up with your own ideas of taking out the targets.

The story for this one is pretty interesting and definitely has me excited to play Hitman 3 at some point. The main thing with this one is trying to reveal 47's past. Only thing I didn't like was the choice to have the story presented via still images. It just felt odd and kind of took me out of the story a bit. I'm sure these characters wouldn't be moving around a lot anyway, but it still felt like an odd choice.

Other than that, the only other complaint was the few times the game asks you to do something besides eliminate the target. Hitman is at its best during those segments, so when you have to run around picking up items with no real alternate ways of getting them, it just gets boring. It's only like twice in the game, though, so it didn't matter all that much.

I really did enjoy my time with this game. Hitman 3 will hopefully continue the trend of these games being good, but man that price point of $70 just hurts to see. Hopefully I can find it on sale or something. I ain't paying $70 for any video game, especially not one that wants me to always be connected to the internet.
