sonic cd is not your usual sonic game. its still got its usual banger music as long as ur not american. I find it a little funny how this is technically the actual sonic 2 but because it was released after the actual sonic 2 (not sonic cd(sonic 2(for the genesis(the one with tails)))) people just kind of forget it exists despite it being an important moment in sonic lore, at least until now.
anyway who gives a flying fuck about sonic lore, the game focuses a lot more on exploration rather than speeding through the level as fast as you can, and when you take this into account and view sonic CD as it's own thing. Theres a lot to like.
First off, the soundtrack. Look, I know sonic is known for good soundtracks but holy shit. You think S3&K has a good soundtrack? Wait till you play this game cause jesus christ. This game utilises the past/future shit to a whole new level in it's soundtrack. The difference between one level's past, present and good/bad future does such a phenomenal job at telling a story without saying a single word and it's honestly beautiful. Fun fact, the game also take advantage of the CD's hardware depending on whether you're in the past or future. If you're in the present or future, it will use the usual CD redbook audio it uses but if you're in the past it will use a lower quality audio chip to make it sound more ancient and its SO FUCKING COOL!!!! THIS GAME IS SO COOL! Not to mention that each stage has multiple unique tracks. In the present? it's your more typical sonic track that you would be familiar with in other games. Past? a much more mellow tone to signify its peaceful nature. Good future? upbeat, uplifting and optimistic. Bad future? Fuckin' harsh and intense and dystopian. The composers behind this game are geniuses and everyone needs to know the hard work they put into this game.
This game wont be for everyone. If you like the formula sonic is familiar with then you might not like CD but if you're someone who likes exploring big ass complicated levels, well you might have a good ass time with this game. Personally, i prefer the other genesis games, but sonic CD is it's own beast entirely and holds a special place in my heart the other sonic games aren't allowed in. Sonic Segregation.

you're right I agree with you but my point was that the game incentivizes exploration. I wouldn't say the game is easy thought considering it doesn't just let you zoom past everything with it's spike and badnik placements which can really ruin your progress if you're not being careful, as well as some placements feeling like they just put it there to fuck with you. At least in the later stages.
