Cid no longer looks like Robin Williams and Squall looks he's from a Star Ocean game.

You can take the game out of 1999 but you can't take the 1999 out of the game, come on

FF8 became my favorite in the series this year, since I've finished it. Im still working on a real write up on it but it's taking me a while lol

But yeah I can't stand this version of it

it looks piss awful yeah lol

haven't beaten ff8 since the year it came out, though i've started it up a few times since... ff2 (origins) kinda has me in a mood to revisit some ff tho, and ff8 would be very high on that list. ps1 version ofc

If you get the chance to, I'd recommend checking out the original version of ff2 for a bit cause it has a lot of unique hidden things to it with equipment and growth that were sanded out in origins.

I wrote about it in the comments of an old review. It's near the bottom. Curious if this changes how you see the game currently https://www.backloggd.com/u/dwardman/review/67522/

gonna hold off on looking at that right now because i'm aware of its changes from the original and i think they're good

also would like to continue enjoying it lol

i find it interesting that nobody who argues in favor of the famicom ff2 seems to recognize just how much richer the presentation of the origins version is, and how much it does for this bleak story of imperial cruelty and rebellion

I haven't played much of origins myself but I did play the psp version quite a bit. I think all of them are good but haven't touched pixel remaster
