i feel like i should have encountered this game as a kid 20 years ago watching somebody over the shoulder play it on their game boy and being extremely mystified by it. the most 2001-ass game boy advance-ass video game. the essence of this console. that is to say i'm extremely charmed by it but my anbernic decided to toss my save file a couple hours in and it's a bit too slow for me to want to run through again. i'll be back, bomberman...

dilemma: the lawn mowing minigame was so much more fun than anything else that I decided my playthrough had peaked and I felt satisfied enough to stop there
takeaway: what I come to video games as an art form for might be even more inexplicable than I previously thought
