Is more than one game allowed to be suggested?
I'll ask you to go for Summon Night: Swordcraft Story, anyway. Highly recommend playing with Pratty (the female MC) and Sugar.

ask for as much as you want!

Fyi, when you do emulate Alien Soldier look for the Japanese ROM. The only other release of it was the PAL version which runs at 50hz compared to the JPNs full 60hz. Runs a lot smoother.

You said to recommend as many as I wanted, so I went pretty large, which I understand that it might be undesirable for one person to suggest too much of the list so if you don't take them all on dw but anyway. (And if you end up wanting even more trust me I could keep going)
Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion and Metroid Dread - Was gonna recommend Metroid Dread and then realized you hadn't played most any Metroid game! I had soooooooooooo much fun going through these and their high quality remaining strong through all of them truly impressed me, so I think it'd be a great idea to go through them, plus I really want Dread to succeed so getting someone else to go buy it is good. I'd recommend playing them in that order but hey you don't have to listen to me. All on Switch or easily emulatable. If you enjoy them definitely try Zero Mission too but I am not gonna force you to play every Metroid lmaooo
Pikmin and Pikmin 2 - If you only play one of these play Pikmin 2. Some of my favorite games and I've in particular replayed Pikmin 2 more times than I can count, all these years later I still think these games just plain look great on a Gamecube. The Piklopedia in 2 is one of the best or best bestiaries and treasure descriptors in gaming, unironic take Captain Olimar is one of the best Nintendo protags. Dolphin should mean not too much difficulty getting it to work.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky - The start of quite an epic JRPG series (or sub-series rather) I love (and which I won't recommend all three games of because I don't want to force someone to be locked into however many hours of JRPG without even knowing if they'd like it), the Orbment system and very light tactical elements add a layer of depth to the combat that keep it exciting throughout its runtime and while a lot of people found the story overly slow I disagree with that assessment (tho it is indeed on the slower side, but not overly so). I highly recommend doing all the sidequests in the game even if you end up needing a guide (which I didn't use to finish them, but did use to make sure I didn't miss any / didn't trigger time sensitive ones away). Easy to buy on Steam and not too pricy.
Mother 3 - It's goddamn Mother 3. I just plain love this game and it isn't hard to emulate w/ the fan translation. I honestly don't know that I have much else to say as it feels like it has an internet reputation that precedes it.
Touhou Youyoumu: Perfect Cherry Blossom - I'm a pretty big Touhou fan, where exactly to start is rather uncertain and there's a good 5 games you could instead, but Perfect Cherry Blossom feels like in a way the purest encapsulation of the "feel" of its era of Touhou and it is a more moderate difficulty one by most accounts. Main other one I was considering was Undefined Fantastic Object but the UFO system is probably best introduced later. You can find it with an english translation fairly easily online.
SKYPEACE - TBH I just want to not be the only review on this game, but also it's a passion project of small size for a long running yet probably little heard of company so why not give it some extra attention? It's short (I beat it under an hour) and cheap (it even goes on sale frequently), so it is a very small commitment. On Switch for like 1.99 IIRC and often on sale.
Octopath Traveler - IDK this game seems to have a pretty divisive rap on Backloggd, but I'm getting close to the end and I've enjoyed it a pretty good amount. The stories are starting to converge more than I expected and looking at the game as I feel it is intended, essentially a bunch of short story vignettes in the form of a longer JRPG narrative / game (and in a way being in the background in some parts to a larger plot), it is actually rather unique and clever? Importantly though the battle system is very fun (if easy so far), making the moment-to-moment gameplay great, and the game has an absolutely bumpin' soundtrack. I think it looks graphically fantastic too. Pretty pricy on Switch though.
Dusk Diver - One of the two games I haven't finished, but I thought this game has a really neat and clean visual style (that kinda reminds me of RWBY especially the main protag) and how many notable video games do you see come out of Taiwan? Feels like a unique little nugget and not too expensive on Switch iirc (tho I got it on sale), so worth a look.
ICEY - The other one I hadn't finished and it's like a weird meta-narrative action game so that seems cool. I remember looking bits of it up when it was first hitting the scene and finding it bizarrely fascinating, but I wasn't able to buy it until years later and just haven't gotten to it. Also I just really like the main character's aesthetic. Seems pretty fun, reasonably meaty, and not too expensive on Switch or PC.

I actually forgot one (Star Trek: Armada, it's a fun RTS with a cool plotline that feels very Star Trek fitting, does take slight work to get to work on a PC but nothing too bad) oops
