This one was a bit tricky for me to get into. I attempted to play through this several times over the past decade, but could never really figure out what I was doing. After deciding to play through every mainline Kirby game however, I finally sat down and learned how the the map works, and honestly??? I really liked this one.

Despite the barrier to entry and the ludicrous amount of backtracking needed to 100% the game, I think this is one of the best 2D Kirby games solely down to its non-linear nature. Surely Flagship would go on to make another Kirby game as good as this one, right?

recency bias probably but oooooghohohohgh this is the most game ever

Only played this near release so my memories might be a bit fuzzy, but I don't remember there being much to this and I kinda blew right through it. Presentation was extremely nice though

the presentation and amount of polish on this one made me so happy. unfortunately much like 2048 I was extremely bad at playing it

also why is this on xbox one

2014

if your koko is playing 2048, it is NOT cute. she is actually under extreme distress and she will not get the 2048 tile

I'll be honest, this one seems just a bit overrated. Don't get me wrong; I still think it's great, the controls are super smooth, and the level designs somehow still hold up (to me at least). But the annoying-ass camera behavior and the relatively esoteric nature of a few stars here and there keep me from putting it much higher than a 4. The only way I was able to 120star this without wanting to end all life on earth was via the PC port with modified camera controls.

a bird asks how you say "friend" and you can piss in response. good game

Nothing will ever match playing this back in the early 2010s, but honestly not much has changed since then aside from contracts and weapon skins being added. After some recent sessions it seems like the bot problem is mostly fixed, so it's good to hop into every once in a while now.

It's super charming and you get to play as a cat(fox?)girl! Unfortunately, that's not enough to make a game good; controls were pretty delayed (could be emulation, don't know) and your starting weapon is pretty weak for the first few areas, making them unnecessarily difficult. I'll have to try it again some other time.

Controls are wild and it's hard to keep track of which way you're facing (a bit of a problem since that's the core concept), but the plot and characters are so fucking absurd I love it

I hear the sound effects from this one in my head, and I mourn the time in which my life was without worry

also you can just shout "fuck" during any of the microphone games and it'll work. try it

Seems like everyone played this on the week it came out and then never again. The editor doesn't control too well compared to the original for obvious reasons.

as a kirby fan: deeply disappointing.
also as a kirby fan: the amount of lore on display here is absolutely unreal. holy shit.

mario kart peaked here and it's kind of worrying that nintendo thought the same thing and decided to add a fuckton of tracks a few years later. uh oh
