i have a lot to say. i hate this game. i wasted like 90 hours of my life for an ending worse than the original. ruined goro's character development right as he got it in the extra content, treating him like some mythical unicorn. so unserious. why make his death so noncommittal when he finally had a perfect resolution? the funny thing is i dont even care about goro like that but that pissed me off. sumire is shoehorned in no matter how hard i try to ignore it, she's barely a character and more a plot device for maruki and is the screentime that haru needed. like 90% of sumire's story could've been haru's. the fact that sumire does ballet when they already established haru doing that in p5d made me angry. expand the characters you have instead of making a weird futabaharu lovechild!!! the fact that yusuke's perfect reality doesn't include his mother said a fucking lot about their agenda and how they don't even want to make new plot points for their characters. AND THE FUCKING ENDING? ITS SO BAD. they never explain why the hell they're being tailed by a black car? and maruki's just a taxi driver because??? sumire doesn't even give the protagonist a proper goodbye?? what the fuck was that half-assed line she said? what the fuck happened to the heartfelt road trip?? and then the hallucinations? it's like they storyboarded the ending without reading the story they wrote. so annoying. when the credits were rolling i will not forget how i just sat in silence. in disbelief. im so sad, maruki is one the best persona villains stuck in a mid game. to me he solidified the message of persona 5, which was, even if you can't win, still fight for what you believe in and that change for the better will never start unless you are the first to want and fight for it. that meaning was a little lost in the OG with fighting god or whatever. it was never supposed to be about "humans make their own choices". like DUH they do, but what are they supposed to do with those choices? P5R finally answered that but everything else was just painfully mid. cashgrab-core. im actually not sorry. anyways, 2 stars for the concept, maruki and the few extra scenes. i hate this damn game.
