i hear a lot of reviews that say tgaa 2 is the Real good one of the dgs games, while tgaa 1 is really just a set up for it. so as i have just finished tgaa 1 and have no clue what happens in tgaa 2, i want to leave a review with my blind opinion before playing the second game.

this game is just fucking Fantastic. it approaches ace attorney differently than the phoenix wright trilogy. in the pw:aa trilogy, the hook of each game focuses a lot on interpersonal relationships phoenix has: edgeworth, maya, dahlia, etc. and develops the bonds and history between the different characters.

this game does it different. i find that it focuses much more on ryunosuke's personal development, and how each of the people he meets and helps along the way contribute to who he is as a person, and ultimately becoming a fulfillment of what asougi embodied at the start of the game. it was truly wonderful to watch ryuunosuke grow, and the 5th case was especially fulfilling. his dialogue was so wonderful to read i genuinely felt so moved

i am personally much more of a fan of games that focus on interpersonal relationships (hence being an ace attorney fan in the first place) so i was really surprised this game got me so bad despite not being the kind of story i usually look for.

it was a pleasure meeting naruhodo ryuunosuke, i can't wait to play the next one :DD

i have extremely mixed feelings about this game... on one hand, i was pretty invested in it while playing. did it confuse me? sure ! but so did ai1 and for the first game it paid off really well by the time the annihilation/resolution route came around so i wanted to see if it was the same for aini.

the plot just felt kind of.. impersonal to me. the twists came off as written for shock value rather than something that i was meant to care about, maybe except the reveal about mizuki being adopted by renju and shoko and the whole true timeline thing. i had a hard time giving a shit about tearer if i'm being perfectly honest lmao ... if anything, i liked the subplots of the game way more with each individual character rather than the whole thing going on with naix

one thing that really put me off was the blatant disregard for any development we got in aitsf . i really REALLY enjoyed mizuki and date's found family relationship, mizuki route was my favorite part of the first game!!! so when date's death was barely acknowledged in relation to characters like mizuki and iris i got so ?? confused?? surely it would affect them both heavily right??? and mizuki and date only got one scene where they actually got to act like family... out of a 24 hour game T___T and iris is a whole separate issue, she barely mattered!!! like what!!!!!!

to be fair though, i think my favorite part of this game were the ai-balls. i loved aiba a lot already from aitsf, but i think tama was really good and fresh! i wish we got to see more of her, i love her personality and her dynamic with ryuki :]]]

that was a lot to say Lmao but yeah generally this game didn't stick with me the same way aitsf did, but i definitely did enjoy playing it

this game gave me the best 30-year-old-single-disturbed father and kid-he-never-planned-to-take-care-of-but-basically-adopted daughter dynamic i have ever seen . mizuki end you will always be famous
