a pretty decent, albeit barebones, RPG. it's nice to see where the series began, i'd say this is a good starting point but keep in mind the final boss is a bit of a difficulty spike

who would've guessed that a remake of a good game would also be good, right? if you liked kirby's adventure, you'll probably like this game, and vice versa

one of the best kirby games and i am NOT joking. if you're even kinda a fan of metroidvanias and you love kirby this game is an absolute must. just don't go for 100%, my soul hurts

a good game on it's own but fuck getting 100% ribbon doesn't deserve to be in another kirby game after the amount of shit she put me thru i'll take the heart stars any day of the week over this shit, the true final boss you get for 100% isn't even a good fight either. i'd genuinely rather 100% DL2 and 3 back to back than ever 100% this game again

fun fact! this is the lowest rated game on the entire website, as well as one of two games (the other being bubsy 3D, unsurprisingly) to have an average rating below 1.0

i was actually a little worried going into this game cuz i thought it was just gonna be more dream land 2, and in a way it is, but (pardon my poor explanation) that's not really a bad thing? specifically, i was worried about 100% with the heart stars in EVERY SINGLE LEVEL being required. thankfully, the amount of pain to collect the macguffins has been significantly reduced compared to DL2. every level, with the exception of one, (6-5 in case you were curious) gives you the tools to collect the heart star within the stage itself. this might sound like the lowest of low bars, but this is an absolute godsend compared to DL2. i genuinely wake up in a cold sweat sometimes remembering the cloudy park crystal drop. anyways yeah the game is pretty good and you should play it. if you liked DL2 this should be a no-brainer

between the great cave offensive and amazing mirror, i know a full on kirby metroidvania would be absolutely peak if one actually came out

oh yeah the game is good btw

i think my rating here is self-explanatory. better than dream land 1, worse than adventure. the animal buddies are a neat idea tho, hope they bring them back someday

a fantastic 2D platformer, and one of, if not the most polished game on the NES (which is to the game's detriment sometimes with the abundance of slowdown that can occur, you might be better off playing the GBA remake if that bothers you)

the first game in the series and it SHOWS. it's alright but there's no harm in skipping this

edit: finished extra mode. whoever designed the kubula fight in extra mode is going to answer to god for their sins

no, watching marsh's video essay does not count as a playthrough

an expansion that while i think it has a few problems, i still really enjoyed

the ponspectors are my spirit animals btw. idk where or how but i hope they show up again someday

nasu will be tried for war crimes as long as i live

9 years later and it's still my absolute favorite game of all time. it's the kind of game you play once and it leaves a lasting impression on you for the rest of your life. there will never be another game quite like it
