To me point and click games have never been a genre that stood out in particular. Item finding and puzzle solving aren't my favorite gameplay loops and the often obtuse logic puts me off too. This game doesn't seem to be any exception to the rest of the genre for me. It's well-written and even funny at points but that didn't stop me from wanting to look up a guide and just be done with it.
