Dave the Diver has a fun gameplay loop. You dive to collect fish, then you use those fish to operate a sushi restaurant. The story is also pretty good. However, Dave the Diver feels like a slog to play. As the story progresses you explore more of what lies beneath the water. But getting to new areas feels like it takes to long to get there. The pacing is horrendous.

With unskippable cutscenes, slow dialogue, and
EVERYTHING has an unskippable animation. It feels like this game was intentionally padded out to give an illusion of length. It is almost exhausting to play because every time a new person comes up to talk, you have to wait for them to come into frame, say their peace, and then wait for them to leave frame. Every area shows you swimming into a new region, then there's a load screen, then you watch yourself enter.

I kept saying to myself, "Oh my god just get to the point!".
